I bought this item weeks ago and the first time I used it I was a bit impressed.
After several usage I notice that the lock which holds and release the handle during operation is not functioning very well. When you lock the handle on a upright position to move or roll the machine it just release by itself and doesn't lock very well.
Also the after several use the brushes became very soft I needed to repeat the area I'm cleaning for 3-4 passes. Problem is Home Depot do not sell replacement parts for the brush block or any parts
On a sadder note according to the Hoover website they no longer ship any parts to Canada.
This product is good as long as it's new.

Overall I'm pleased with this purchase. It did make a big difference in the cleanliness of our carpets and works about as effectively as the rental units from the supermarkets; which I have been satisfied with. If the machine holds up to use, the cost savings of not having to rent a machine twice yearly will have it pay for itself in about 3 years. I really appreciate being able to put the machine to use at a moments notice if there's a spill or pet accident. Instant problem solver.
Cons. Yes the unit is plasticy, but what isn't now days? The tanks are on the small side so you'll be changing them often. The hand held rotary attachment is a poor design and not particularly powerful. It's super loud so hearing protection is wise.

This steam cleaner did a fair job at cleaning my carpets, but a pre-clean with a higher concentrated cleaner is necessary in soiled areas (as so stated in the directions). My one area of concern is longevity. As are many things these days, it is made of industrial plastic. This is fine for many components such as the main body, but there are numerous plastic pressure snaps that open and close components. If they break (save for the frequent use of man's best friend - good old duct tape), the unit is unusable, and even with great care, plastic will inevitably break under repeated stressing. I just hope it fails 10 years from now rather than a day after the warranty. I am going to keep it.......and my fingers crossed.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RS2010 Excellent Product
We were ready to throw out our carpet, but thought we would try the Hoover SteamVac SpinScrub first. Our carpet looks brand new. All the stains (including pet stains) are removed. The spin brushes really work. And the price was very reasonable for a product that makes your carpet look professionally cleaned. It's very easy to use, and lightweight. I would recommend this product to anyone!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by YVRpilot Best Carpet Cleaner I've ever owned!
I'm not the type to write reviews on household products, but this carpet cleaner is amazing. It is almost as good as a "Rug Doctor", but far more maneuverable.
It's suction power is amazing. You will not be disappointed!

This is an improvement on the same model of this carpet cleaner I bought in 2001. That one lasted 9 years. I like the way they changed the hose attachment. It's not connected under the machine where it split all the time. When using GOOD carpet cleaner this machine does a great job. I like the spin brushes better than a belt driven model because you don't have to set the height, it does it for you. Also like the change they made so it cleans closer to the edges.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well this product cleaned. It was easy to use and sucked up all the water it expelled. Love it!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Java mom Plastic parts break too easily, otherwise to works great.
I bought this model about 3 years ago. I've only used it approximately 12 times, mostly as small area cleaning of walkways. The plastic pin the attaches the brush assembly to the cleaner broke after 1 1/2 years. I was able to fix it. It broke again after only 1 use. What irks me off is that at the time I paid over $300 for it and now I have to pay $75 to fix it, only to have it break again WHEN the pin breaks again. Cheap Chinese made! :-(
