Customer Questions & Answers

2 screws fell out of the handle of my knife. Is this covered by the warranty?

Asked by: RSR
Don't bother with the warranty. They would probably replace your knife for free, but the new ones (as of July 2017) are much lower quality. On a new one the screws have been replaced with rivets. The rivets might be more reliable in that they won't work their way out as fast. But the new ones are also made to lower tolerances and often have slight play in the locking hinge. I would recommend replacing the screws and using a little Threadlocker Blue for a long lasting fix. Home Depot sells screws (though they are often disorganized or out of stock when their computers say they are in stock, because their computer system is poorly designed [that is, employees can't adjust the inventory log even after they realize that the remaining product has been lost or stolen]).

How do I fold it?

Okay, I can not figu re out how to close this knife. Help please.
Asked by: Blaze
It works very much like a pocket knife. Along the spine of the knife between the two screws just above the HUSKY name is a small metal bar between the black plastic handle. Depress this and it will release the tension of the knife allowing you to fold it backward.

Any standard utility blade will work with this product. The replacement blades are usually located right next to the utility knives in the store. They are also available online via the following links.

How to replace blade on this model

How to replace blade on this model
Asked by: Michael
There is a small bar on the spine of the catch that holds the blade with a direction arrow pointing to an opened lock. Slide it to the right toward that and it will release the catch enabling one half of the front to open. When that slides open, simply remove the blade and replace it. The photo below shows the product opened.

Exceptional quality!  I love this knife and use it for everything.  It's affordably priced, ergonomically designed, and aesthetically pleasing.  Compact enough to fit in a pocket yet able to be used on the biggest jobs, this tool is a constant companion that has accompanied me on more projects than I can count.  From their performance, I expect this tool to last a lifetime. Initially I purchased this product as a single and after using it, enjoyed it so much that I purchased a second pack of three giving me four of these.  I keep one in my truck, one in my workshop, one in my toolbox, and another in the kitchen.  Each of them have been used countless times and they have never once disappointed me.  I have not experienced any of the negative issues cited by other reviewers, all four of my knives are well manufactured and flawless in their craftsmanship.  Blade changes are easy enough.  I really have nothing bad to say about this product, I'm very glad I purchased it.

I got one of these knives in summer of 2016 and it was well built with screws holding it together. The blade locked tight. I carry it around in my pocket and it has served me well on many jobs. I really like how small and thin it is. It makes it easy to choke up on the blade with my thumb and/or forefinger to control depth of cut. I use Lenox Gold blades in this knife (which I get from Lowe's because for some reason Home Depot doesn't carry any titanium nitride coated blades). Recently I decided to buy another one of these knives so I will have a spare. But the knives they are selling now (July 2017) are held together with rivets instead of screws, have hinge play in the "locked" position, and are more crudely fashioned overall. I bought one and it had the hinge problem, so I returned it and got another, but it also had the same problem. I wish I could find more of the old ones cause $5 is a good deal, but the new ones are total ¢r@¶. At least I have one old one. So much for a lifetime warranty. If this one ever breaks down, I'm fixing it myself.

I bought a 3 pack about a year ago and liked them so much I bought more to hand out at work as Christmas gifts. (Last Christmas (2015) the 3 pack was $6, I think it was). Bought several more for myself too. Had many a utility knife but I love love love this one. Compact and thin in your pocket but the handle is still large enough to get a firm grip. Blade holding mechanism is very secure, but changes easily - once you figure it out. Some others I've used the blade comes loose by accident during use every once in a while - very bad!! What's not to like on this one??? To the person who said it was hard to fold... never noticed that... Just bought a few more. Only down side is I loose them... I'm all over multiple job sites daily.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from replace the blade Not a bad little knife...once you replace the blade. Bought it today...based on price and that it is slim and compact. Figure if I like it/use it I can always get a fancier one. Took it out of the packaging to trim some plastic for a spacer I was making...yeah. Would not cut...safely. It took way too much pressure to chop the plastic to length...then the edge rolled over when it hit my tile countertop (don't ask). Then it took way too much pressure to slice...and the plastic actually ruined the rest of the edge. Swapped out to one of my blades (0.025 in the bulk dispenser type) and problem solved. It is a little short for my liking, and we'll see how it goes with gloves on. The unlock mechanism is on the back...but I knew that when I bought it. The mechanism does not work smoothly though, and I am not able to close it with one hand...might take it apart and remedy that. You get what you pay for...sure, but for $5 it'll let me test the waters on this kind of knife for everyday use. 3 stars based on bad blade and rough lock mechanism.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Compact Knife Have tried for years to come up with a knife that I could clip to my pants pocket and carry it with me through the work day. Don't like putting it in my nail apron. Most other models and brands have always been too bulky and heavy. This one is thin. It is PLENTY sturdy. Takes a couple of times to understand changing blades. The only tiny issue is that eventually the tiny screws start working loose and its hard to find a tool to tighten them. Wonderful knife. I literally carry it fulltime through the workday.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard to Close This product is really nice, I like the compact size and love the red color. However it is very difficult to close. It's hard to push the to mechanism to get the blade to fold down. I tried it several time and my fingers and thumbs were very sore as I tried to get it to work without much effort. Maybe it loosens up after a while but I don't think my hands can take it while it's getting to that point. It's definitely going back to Home Depot. Perhaps with larger, stronger hands it would not be an issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk The blade pulls out of this knife if it's put under stress. Mine fell apart the second time I used it. The Home Depot gave me a refund with no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap. Good. Sturdy, thin, attached belt clip. Had to cut circles in the carpet during installation and this worked with ease.
