I installed four of these ceiling shelves in my garage so far, and I plan to install four more. The hold a ton of stuff all up and out of the way. They were not the easiest to install, but only because it's not easy to work over your head while standing on a ladder, but assembly was very straight forward. As you can see in the photo, they look great in combination with the 45 in. x 15 in. 2-Shelf Wall Storage. You'll even see some of the accessories attached below. Also, it appears that HyLoft has address the lag bolt issue as my packages all had additional bolts taped to the top of the packaging.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by jwm1 Great shelves, lousy hardware! - buy your own lag screws!
I installed 2 sets of these in my garage and they will be great - once I replace ALL of the lag screws! Put first shelf up and put about 50-60 lbs of boxes on it, then 1 corner dropped from the rafter! The bolts were securely in the rafter, but the lag bolts broke! Since then, 2 more have just "popped" in the same place (the point where the threading stops near the top of the screw - see picture). I'll replace them with some quality lag screws, but save yourself the time/frustration and buy 8 good quality 1/4" x 2-1/2" lag screws when you buy this to use for your install.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mominator This product is easy to install and looks great.
We installed 4 of these and because of the stud placement we had a gap between the 3rd and 4th set. I went to the local Home Depot store and they cut a wire shelf to the dimensions I needed so we now have 4 in a row in the garage.
The other users gave us good ideas on installation so take time to read those.
We should have looked in the attic first to see which direction the studs went, we ended up changing from the back wall to the side wall of the garage because of that but it actually works better that way.
Our garage is a little dark on that side so we strung rope lights around the racks at the top so we can see better.
Make sure and chart what is where because that is a lot of storage area.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Joewilson Thought this would be harder - lag bolts great.
I have put off this project for years cause I thought it would be harder. I should have done this years ago. Someone encouraged to buy lag bolts but the ones included were better - I assume they resolved the issue.

This went together easily and was a "one person" job. The only difficult part was locating the studs. I couldn't find my electronic unit so relied on the knuckle rap method. It worked.
One nit: the back of the box has a template to locate the ceiling mounting points. I recommend following the dimensions in the instructions. DON'T use the template. Even though I measured the unit and found it to be consistent with the instructions I went ahead using the template. The holes are about an inch closer than they should be.

I have installed three of these racks and have been very impressed with the quality at the price offered. Those who have had trouble with lag bolts might have tried to tighten them down too forcefully and likely compromised their strength. Once you find the stud and screw through the dry wall, you are likely to have a good 3 inches of thread into the wood. No way will that drop down if you follow the weight limit. However, if when you get the lag bolt flush with the ceiling, if you continue to turn the bolt beyond where it meets the dry wall, you may yourself weaken the bolt. The bolts worked fine for me.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LIGHTINFANTRY13FOX Excellent product!
I recently installed two of these and couldn't be happier. They made the space above my garage doors very useful. I was able to bring items off of the garage floor and make space for the family cars. I was also able to store items that I wanted easier access to instead of having to climb into the attic. As far as the complaints about the size not matching industry standards... Make sure you mount the shelf-supports parallel to the trusses. Installation was a "one man" job and surprisingly easy.
