Customer Questions & Answers

My badger would not spin, I only hear a hmmmmm sound coming from the disposal.

If you have children around, there's probably a nickle, or possibly a small rock (etc), stuck between the blade and the housing. Speaking from personal experience here. I was able to remove the nickle by turning the shaft and pulling it out. For the rock, I had to remove the disposal and take it apart at the middle. It's not as hard as it sounds.

I have a dishwasher and were the dishwasher drain hose is there is a plug on the inlet to the badger. How is this removed?

Asked by: harley
I had to poke/stab it with a screw driver until it broke and pushed in, then reached in through the top of the disposal to grab it and pull it out. Make sure it is unplugged first!!

Badger 100 is only 2 1/2 years old but oder is always so strong. How can I correct this?

I have cleaned with bleach and even tried wiping it clean with damp paper towels.

The disposal unit needs to be above the goose neck or P-trap so that gases will be blocked from septic system. You need to contact a local Plumber for an inspection. The unit comes with a plug top also that needs to be in place to block odors from the disposal as well when not in use.

Customer Reviews

Badger 100 1/3 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 1047.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does what it's supposed to. I'm the type of person who obsesses over buying anything new. Looking up reviews, cost comparisons, etc. After looking up garbage disposals and their pros and cons, prices, & reviews, I decided to step back and realize that I'm buying a garbage disposal and not a new car. I bought the Badger 100 because it was the cheapest one I could fine and got excellent reviews. I replaced my existing disposal with the Badger in about 30 mins and it works perfect. The noise isn't crazy loud and it does what its supposed to. Just remember to punch out the hole for the dishwasher if you have a connection for that (like the directions specify). That was the only thing I forgot to do and had to take it off after "finishing the install" and punch the hole out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value Replacement Disposal I purchased this unit to replace an older unit of a different brand. This unit seemed to be solid and was simple to install. It fit perfectly with no problems. I wish that it came prewired, but the wiring kit was necessary to install this unit. I did not want to mess with removing the old wiring from the broken disposal. The wiring kit had all the components and was easy to install as well and was a perfect fit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Housing will crack and leak in roughly two years Housing will crack and leak in roughly two to three years. I have purchased several of these and they absolutely will leak. They housing design is flawed and will fail after normal use. The 1/2 hp has similar housing and will fail. Save yourself the hassle. The low price is not worth it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast, easyinstallation My new construction home had the same unit that had stopped working. I was amazed at how quickly and easily I was able to swap in the new unit and get it working in under 30 minutes, following the instructions. Two minor issues, with the second one attributed to installer error: 1. It does not come with a power cord, so you must use the one from the unit you are replacing. 2. Improve the instructions for knocking out the dishwasher drain plug. I forgot about that and ran the dishwasher, only to discover the dirty water at the dishwasher base. Thankfully, a quick tap with a hammer and screwdriver resolved the issue, and it's working perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oldie but a goodie I got a new kitchen sink and decided rather than keep my 20 year old Insinkerator, I'd get a new one. The mounting gasket was shot and it was getting loud. The quietness didn't really matter to me because I turn it on for like 10 seconds or so to drain the basin or maybe chop up some food scraps before loading the dishwasher. It's not like I run the thing for 30 minutes or so. Anyway, I bought a Badger 100 to replace the original Badger 1. Installed it in about 15 minutes, including the new mounting ring. Attached the dishwasher drain and hooked it up to the main drain plumbing and Voila! Done. And the Badger 100 is quieter than my old Badger 1. Win-Win!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good This unit has been satisfactory so far. I like it because it takes up less space under the sink than our old 1/2 HP unit. It is also quieter. Hopefully it will last longer than the old one. This review wanted me to rate quality, ease of installation and innovation. The quality seems good so far. Our old in-sink-erator started leaking around the seam where the motor met the grinding chamber. Time will tell if this one lasts longer than that one. The ease of installation was great, since the mounting hardware is the same. Innovation? How innovative does a disposer have to be?

My sister gives these a workout and the last one burned out at the motor (could smell it). Since I had replaced the whole flange area previously with the quik connect bracket, swapping them out was super fast. Literally took 15 - 20 minutes to disconnect the old, remove, replace and reconnect the plumbing (because I ensured the Badger 1 and badger 100 were the same physical size) and electric. Was a job I jumped on while in town and did it right before I left, so I am grateful the quick connect bracket worked so well. IF this one last another 5 years I will be happy. An average of $20/year is worth not having to listen to my sister complain about not having a garbage disposal (hahaha!).
