Customer Questions & Answers

I would like a link to the suggest cable for this unit. Or does this come with cord? Also, does it come with the stopper, or is this a separate Item

No details: Just not enough details. Does this come with stopper? Does this come with cord? Does Home depot sell the cord specific to this? Does it matter what cord I use? Can I just use an old computer cord for this and cut off the female side, and connect it? I have a lot of those. Why waste metal, plastic and paper (money). Thanks.
Asked by: tom
It does not come with a cord or clamp to hold cord in place. I used both from my old disposal prior to installation. Any 3 prong cord will work to plug it into an outlet, just make sure it has the ground prong and it is wired correctly for polarity.

Very quiet. If 5 is silent, this gets a 4.5

Evolution Essential 3/4 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 1043.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job We purchased this Evolution Essential model to replace our 20+ year old Badger, which had been installed by our builder. I hired a handyman to install it as my husband didn't care to do the labor. I'm assuming the installation went well since I had to leave just after the workman began the work and he was gone when I returned home less than 2 hours later. The disposer works well. I didn't give it at 5 star rating only because I don't think it is much more quiet than our old disposer. The noise of a disposer is not a big deal for me, since it doesn't get used more than once a day at most, and I usually compost most of my food waste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A top quality product I recently replaced my "entry level" InSinkErator (which gave me 16 years of trouble free service) with the Evolution Pro 880LT. Installation was seamless, I reused the sink adapter from the original disposer, the plumbing lined up perfectly. It only change under the sink was the addition of a GFIC plug to the electrical box under the sink, the new unit has a plugged cord as opposed to being hard wired in. The Evolution Pro is a quiet powerful unit! I'm glad my plumbing supplier recommended it. I wouldn't hesitate to to recommend this unit to anyone looking to install or replace a waste disposal unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Installation was a snap, as long as you have all the neccesary materials (plumbers putty) I researched a bunch of units for replacement of my old leaking unit, this model was highly rated for its food munching abilities as well as quiet operation. It met all my expectations at a great price. I wish I could do a long term summary later, but it has been installed for a few months now with no problems. Only took about 45 minutes to remove old unit and install new. My only small gripe is the rubber "shutter" that keeps items from dropping into the disposal doesn't let water drain freely, it creates an air trap that you have to manually open up to let the water drain. Design Engineers need to take a look at that issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the disposal you want! My plumber thought that something was wrong when he flipped the switch for the first time, as there's no real noise, barely a sound. I researched everywhere, and this has everything you want, stainless steel grinding chamber, sound reduction, and something I didn't realize until it was installed: a removable, throw in the top rack of the dishwasher, baffle. One thing I've always hated about disposals are the rubber baffles, that wind up getting caked with nastiness in every fold and wrinkle, and up underneath where you can't see (but sure can smell). Now, every time I run the dishwasher, I pull out the baffle and throw it onto the top shelf. It's so easy to remove and install, and now, no nasty build ups!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Quiet The unit so quiet operating that I have to warn people that it is on. It works quickly. And my dishwasher is quiet now. The only downside was lifting the unit into the support flange. I had to get my son-in-law to help me with that part. If he had not come by, I would have had to use a car jack. One caveat, get a disposal installation kit at you hardware store, as the plumbing connections from the old disposal did not fit. Be careful attaching the snap ring, it bends so easily I had to use the one from the old disposal as it was stiffer. I do wish that my old installation had a electric outlet to plug into, but I had to hard-wire it. If you have an outlet, you will have to get an electric pigtail. The connection space inside the unit is a bit tight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this product We purchased this product because the product that came with the house just wasn't working well. We had no problem installing the electrical plug for the power and installing to the sink was not a problem. However because we also changed the sink the outflow no longer matched the current plumbing pipes. I guess we could have attempted to try to hook it up but since there was about a 4 inch difference in the alignment we called a professional to hook up the plumbing. I truly believe if we had not changed out the sink that this would have been an easy installation in the plumbing area as well. Once everything was installed I couldn't believe how quiet and efficient this product is. No more vibrations so everything falls into the sink and you can barely hear it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent warranty service My first Insinkerator Evolution Essential only lasted 3.5 years and froze up solid. No reason given or found for the unit freezing up. The "In Home Warranty" replaced the whole unit at no charge. Insinkerator's authorized service personnel had the unit replaced in less than 50 minutes, were very professional, and left the kitchen area clean. Great Warranty Service! Am looking forward to many years of trouble free service from the replacement Insinkerator Evolution Essential unit. Prior units have lasted 18+ years for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best 3/4 HP Disposal Out There We replaced a 1/2 HP contractor Insinkerator that lasted l5 years. This one is much quieter and seems twice as powerful instead of 50% more powerful. I bought the 3/4HP because we are a family of 3 and 3/4 HP seemed like more than enough. I'm thinking this one will live a third longer than our 1/2 HP contractor model so I'm thinking 20 years. I assume Emerson thinks that as well or they wouldn't be giving me a 6 year in-home warranty. I bet they have to come to one house out of a 1000.
