i have read this shed is easy to break into, is this true? How would I make the door break-in proof

Asked by: doorlock
Shed is plastic and sure it can get broken into fairly easily. I doubt you can make it break-in proof. That said, it is a solid shed.

Factor 8 ft. x 6 ft. Outdoor Storage Shed is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Nice Shed The shed is easy to put together and is of good quality. When the box was opened there was no instruction manual but that was easily downloaded online which was fine because when I went back to HD.com it was $90 cheaper. HD promptly credit me the difference. I installed this on a preexisting wood frame foundation. The instructions state that it can be installed on a level surface without a foundation but I would not recommend you do that as the floor is much sturdier with a foundation. The foundation could also be pavers, gravel or concrete. It comes with two small shelves. There is a ridge top skylight and a obscured window that does not open for more light. Two large doors and a tall ceiling at its peak. I love it.

I ordered this shed online Home Depot website just before Thanksgiving week 2016. It arrived after a week or so from purchase. It came in 2 big boxes so for starters, a haul to the dump with the empty cut up boxes. I have to compare this shed with the other shed I ordered online also with Home Depot 2016. That shed was Rubbermaid Big Max. Bigger size, different material, easier instructions and labeling to install it. Now this Keter shed is a whole different shed compared to the Rubbermaid one. Thinner resin pieces, not much for insulating heat/cold. Instructions was very poor to follow. One part did not align correctly but we made a simple fix solution so no biggie. The parts bagging labels to the many pieces was poorly labeled and hard to see it on the packaging. This shed could be installed within 1 day with 2 people too. This shed is most likely not ideal in a stand alone location in yard for states that have extreme winds, unless you find ways to bolt it down. Maybe putting it near other buildings, it may hold up IMO. If buying this shed and outside temps are cold to near freezing temps, caution is needed assembling the small hard plastic parts for they can snap and break. Keter customer service will replace some parts from purchase date time frame. While waiting for 2 replacement pieces I took a few 'unfinished' images of the shed, but you can see how it actually looks. It looks just like the photo stock images as displayed on Home Depot's website, except we placed this shed on concrete just shy away from the house exterior. If putting on the ground, a leveled foundation would be needed to secure the structure. Would I recommend this to buy? It depends upon your storage needs. I would say this shed is average use, has good room for storage, is somewhat sturdy for the bonus shelf included in box but the price; I think it needs to be on sale or lowered price, or redesigned by Keter to improve the resin thickness paneling. I would say that it is not completely leak proof. The doors do stay shut solid, unlike the Rubbermaid (which that is the only negative I can say about Rubbermaid so far). Our intended purpose for this shed is to give shelter to pets during winter time using it like a huge dog house for now. Eventually it will be relocated in a better spot for items during winter storage etc... With the Nevada sun and winds, time will let me know if it lasts for many years. So, would I recommend this to buy at the normal online price? Probably not. If priced lower, give it a shot for it beats paying monthly storage fees or cluttering up the garage.

This is the second Keter shed I've bought and both have been perfect. Assembly time was 2-3 hours and I had one person helping me. Instructions are clear cut and pieces fit just fine, and nothing was missing.

All the foundational prep-work took time. Note, although it is generically 8 ft x 6 ft . it is a bit bigger The floor size, thus the foundation frame size is 97 5/8” wide. .. but plywood is only 96”. So a strip of wood down the middle. A complete pain.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Global Capitalism at it's best. Pros: The shed went together easily , taking two people about two hours. The instructions were easy to follow and straight forward. I would recommend the shed, but with reservations. I got what I expected, and it will fully meet our needs. Cons: Whoever designed this shed did not think about water management at all. We built a wooden platform for it but the amount of water that was getting through to pool under the floor was unacceptable, so we took the shed apart to waterproof the subfloor and now we are putting it back up. This would not have been a problem if it were built on a slab or pea gravel, but if you are putting it on a wooden base it is good to be aware of. I do think it will keep stuff that is stored in it dry. The main design flaw is with the floor assembly having holes that allow water to creep under the floor itself from the floor/wall joints and at the door. The measurements are not standardized to normal building materials, so we had to jerry rig the platform a bit to stretch our plywood. Easily done, but silly that it was necessary. Also, the book gave measurements that were off by about an inch in the width, so our platform is slightly too wide.
