We previously had a Maytag Neptune front load washer & never had any problems; always aired out & no mold issues. We wanted larger capacity washer & chose this LG front load washer for quality, appearance, features & capacity size. After doing much research regarding the HE washers, we followed the recommendations to install the 3/4 inch water hoses & not the standard 1/2 inch. These hoses give the HE washers maximum water flow to allow sufficient water entry to maximize the wash & rinse cycles. We love our washer choice & highly recommend. Be sure to install 3/4 inch water hoses!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by None Unit did not operate correctly/ LG logistical nightmare
We have been LG people for a long time. We bought this washer at Home Depot and it started shaking violently after 30 days. LG gave us the number to a service tech in our area, except that their database was wrong and there was nobody that seviced our area. LG expected us to trouble shoot the unit over the phone. We quickly put a stop to that and requested that LG contract with some one in our area to fix it, and they did.
The tech came to our house, found the problem, but was unable to source the part. After 3 weeks of back and forth with LG, they finally sourced the parts, but 2 of them were on back order. They were not able to replace our unit with a new one becaus they had all been released to the stores. We are receiving a full refund, but not before a month and a half of headaches and rude people at LG that thought we were blowing things out of proportion. I don't think it is unreasonable to want to use a washing machine that you pay that much money for.
The moral of my story is just because there is a warranty doesn't mean it will be easy to get a unit replaced or even find parts. This may not be specific to LG but we will giving Samsung appliances a chance to earn and keep our business.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kimmer19 Great capacity & cleaning. Poor lighting panel.
So far, washer seems to be very efficient. Has great capacity and cleaning power. Steam feature on white cycle improves cleaning. I do have a few concerns. The bleach/ detergent/ fabric softener compartments can be awkward to fill, especially bleach. Liquids tend to splatter. I wish drum light would stay on longer for loading and unloading and I wish the ENTIRE control panel would light up to make it easier to read. My biggest issue is NO SOAK CYCLE. Even though you may lengthen the wash cycle by soil level, it is nice to have a soak cycle.

Haven't had the washer long but so far we love it.
I have to add one piece of advice to anyone who needs a longer hot and cold water hose. (We needed the longer hoses because our faucets and drain are on the right side of the wall and not the left ) DO NOT buy the hoses with the elbow on the end, use only straight hoses. For some reason the elbow slows the water flow down to the point of it not registering when the washer is turned on. We removed the water saver piece from the end and it still did not make a difference. We switched it out with the straight hoses and it works perfectly.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by sara757 Love this Washer!
We researched large capacity washer and dryers fairly thoroughly before deciding on this washer for our family of 7. Having 5 kids means we are constantly doing laundry. We previously had an Amana 3.? cu ft front load washer that had its bearings replaced once and was starting to get loud again. Consumer Reports rated this washer fairly highly and the size was what caught our attention.
We've had this washer for about 2 months now and it works great! I can wash 16+ towels at once, queen size comforter and room for sheets, and huge loads of laundry. I went from doing 7+ loads on a weekend to just 3 or 4.
It was a tight squeeze to fit it and the dryer into my laundry area, but we made it work!
My only complaint is the washer door cannot be switched to open the other way (we knew this beforehand but it would have been nice if it was interchangeable.) so we had to switch the way we usually have our washer and dryer and the hoses had to stretch a bit.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by largefamily First Impressions read full review to get full picture
After a lot of research and reading what others are recommending this seems to be the logical one to get. priced at about 1,500 bucks, after processing and everything else almost 2k, WOW! I hope it was worth it. Bought it to replace a 15 year old Frigidaire affinity which help up surprisingly well, however it was starting to have problems with not going into spin cycle, pump was worn out cause coins always end up in the pump which the filter did nothing, and was leaking through the seals. The last time it threw a tantrum at me I threw one back and won hahahha. well she got the last laugh it seems cause now i gotta replace the broken window i broke :) After I looked online for the replacement parts I know I need to make this thing work like new again it came up to about 450-500 bucks which was what i paid for the thing in the first place so i decided not to repair and just order a new one instead, hope i don't regret it. This One is the new version of the wm8000hva model just one higher which had high reviews. Pros, i got this cause i used to do 2 loads with my old one, this new one had larger capacity i only did one load now which all fits inside just fine with a full basked of laundry. very quiet, my old one sounded like a jackhammer, this new one is very very quiet. Cons, during the spin cycle i could hear the tub springs bouncing back and forth which worries me, my old one was load but never once did i thought it was gonna tear apart . The delivery guys also sucked, they told me it didn't come with hoses, so they used the old ones also after they left i went to move the cars back into the driveway cause i moved them out so they could back their truck in, I found a piece laying in the driveway which seems to have came from the washer and was damaged, it was new so it didn't come from the old one, hope it wasn't important as the washer seems to work just fine. So after i unwrapped the washer and open the door, there were the hoses, inside the tube like it should be, so i had to redo the hoses and put the new ones on. Lastly they couldn't level it correctly after they left it still wobbled a lot. This model comes it its own installation tools which was inside the tub with the hoses that made it soooo simple i leveled it in seconds. these installers clearly had no clue. Note, if you don't have it perfectly leveled, i mean if the washer wobbles during the spin cycle it will not spin cause it detects the washer unbalanced and it just keeps trying to balance the load. I noticed the washer was still wobbling so i adjusted the legs again and it worked so make sure its perfectly stable. Lastly I read that people had water hammering with these washers, so far this thing is quiet no sign of water hammering at all. My old one had water hammering this one was soo quiet i had to bring the flash light to verify that it was spraying water during the rinse cycle. As for using less water? well i don't really care if it does or not, i'm more concern with whether my clothes are clean or not. It seems to me that it uses the same amount of water as my old one cause when it initially fills the tub it uses less water but it will rinse it with new water during the rinse cycle so it seems to be about the same if not more. I always use extra detergent cause i get dirty a lot and i'm a grease monkey so if i used the recommend detergent they say my clothes never came out clean, with my old washer my clothes came out with a bit of detergent residue, using the same amount of detergent i always use for my washes the NEW washer came out without detergent residue AWESOME. I hope this thing will last as long as the old one.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Iguazú8 Due yo its large capacity I can wash bulk bedding.
I purchased the LG washer and dryer combo this past
January. I am extremely happy with both. This washer
leaves my whites very clean without the bleach. The
dryer is very efficient and leaves my clothes wrinkle free.
I would recommend this combo washer and dryer to all
