I have a large yard with slopes on it but not a big enough budget for a ridding mower. After some great service and advice at the Home Depot I decided to try this mower. Its strong rear wheel drive was not faced by the hills and slopes on my yard; rear wheel drive will stay more firmly planted on the ground than the front wheel drive. The bag is bigger on this model than most others in it's price range. This machine uses the same engine as the TORO, brand which is considered a better brand; but ultimately deliver a similar experience. This machine started on the first pull every time. It was a great even cut and is easy to adjust. I choked it on thicker wet grass but I have the kind of yard I should be mowing in a ridding mower. Still, this is what I could afford and it totally kicks grass! LawnBoy will send you a free side discharge latch when you register the product. There are more features available on machines out there but I certainly got my money's worth.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by timtsb Great mower with improvements over previous model
This is a great mower. I got it to replace an approx. 5 year old Lawn Boy push mower which still runs flawlessly, but I wanted a self-propelled mower.
Assembly out of the box couldnât be easier. You mainly just have to unfold the handlebar and add the oil and gas. The instructions even tell you the most efficient way to remove the mower from the box, which is to cut the back of the box so it lies flat then just roll the mower out⦠duh! (Iâm worried I wouldnât have thought of that myself and strained my back trying to lift it out).
In addition to being self-propelled, there are some nice upgrades over the old mower:
-The bag has a much larger âmouthâ. This reduces clogs while mowing AND makes dumping grass/leaves out easier.
-The cutting deck is 1â bigger. That may not seem like much, but that one inch on each pass adds up!
-This may seem like a small detail, but I love that there are only 2 levers to adjust the mowing height (one in the front, one in the back) rather than 4 (one at every wheel). It makes it faster and easier to make the adjustment. This may not matter to some people, but I take lawn care seriously, so I abide by the rule that you never cut off more than 33% of the length of the blade of grass, so I do adjust the cutting height depending on the length of the grass.
-The spout to pour gas into is large and tipped at an angle, making it easier to pour gas into the mower without spilling. This is especially useful when the gas tank youâre using to fill the mower is very full.
The only thing I wish they didnât change from the old mower is the fat front wheel. I believe it makes the mower glide easier over the lawn with the fat wheel.
One thing to note with this mower is it is NOT a 3-in-1; it only mulches and bags. It does NOT have a side discharge. I donât believe this would matter to most peopleâ¦personally Iâve never used a side discharge (bad for the lawn and looks bad) but just in case thereâs a side-discharger out there somewhere reading this review, I wanted to make sure I mentioned it.
Iâm looking forward (yes, really) to a summer full of lawn mowing. Itâs a relaxing activity to me â I get outside, get exercise, see the neighbors, and I find it rewarding to make nice straight lines on my lawn which really helps the overall look of my property. Considering Iâve never had a problem with my old Lawn Boy, I fully anticipate this mower to last me at least 5-10 years...with proper maintenance, of course.

Used product less than one year under normal/light use. The front wheels broke away from the metal frame and then the axle dropped out. A major piece of junk. Home Depot says it is not covered by any warranty.

This mower has lots of problems. I use it for trimming around were my 50" zero turn can't reach. First year the drive belt came and it had to go the shop. Second year mower will not start. i was careful to drain and use only fresh gas. Had to go the shop for a $75 repair. Warranty will not cover, They said it was my fault the mower will not start because the gas must be old. I ran all gas out before winter. The repair shop says Toro who owns Lawn Boy always claims bad gas and warranty won't cover repair. Their help desk is rude and told me I should take better care of the mower. Do not buy unless you want lots of problems.

Worst mower ever. Been to service 4 times with no satisfaction. Starts and then runs for 2-3 minutes and dies. Won't restart. Repair says heat riser in carb not working properly. No manual choke.. New EPA rule. Past 90 days of ownership and Lawnboy/Toro won't authorize a return. Not Home Depot's issue. I will never buy a Lawnboy/Toro or Kohler engine again. 67 years old and have had a lot of mowers and this is the worst!!! Have two case files on this thing.
