Customer Questions & Answers

how long is item?

Asked by: Anonymous
C1 (Ivory) and C10 (white) cord channels are 5 feet long.

Do you feed the cord through the device or does it open to allow you to place the cord inside of it?

How would you fit an extension cord through?
Asked by: Jef
The cord channel does have one side open and it "clicks" shut once you have the wire inside. Beware, though, that the slit is pretty narrow (takes some effort to pry it open to get the cord in) and it takes A LOT of pressure to snap it shut.

does this item have adhesive back to stick to the wall?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, it does, and it`s pretty strong, so once you put it in place, it`s there to stay, depending on what surface you plan to put in on.

Can it be cut if I need less than 5 ft?

I have a lamp on the wall and I need to hide the cord. It has an on/off switch in the middle of the cord, so I want to cut the channel just before the switch and then use the rest of the channel for the remainder of the cord.
Asked by: Julia
Yes, the cord channel cuts fairly easily with a fine-toothed hacksaw blade.

This comment applies to Cordmate C1/C10 (cord cover) and C6/C16 (90-degree flat elbow), but may also apply to the other Cordmate connectors: Product mostly performs "as advertised" but there is a design flaw. The elbow does not positively "click" into place over the cord cover as you would expect. It just sort of stays on tentatively by friction. Called Legrand support and the customer service rep was courteous, but did not have an explanation or resolution. He tested this with his samples and agreed that it didn't work as he thought it should -- i.e., he expected it to click into place, too. He only could suggest putting a spot of glue on the inside of each leg of the elbow to hold it more securely. Just beware that in installations where the elbow/connector may get bumped, it will likely fall off unless you glue (or double-stick tape) it on to the cord cover.

Can be "tacked down" and repositioned if necessary without damaging paint if a light touch is used with the adhesive backing. Snapping the cover closed can be hard on fingers and thumbs - gloves recommended. Inconspicuous and takes paint readily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They work I purchased these years ago, and they're still up in my living room. So I needed some more for my husband's man cave. They last a long time and do the trick to hide wires, in my case, surround sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wire mold ***Two Thumbs Up*** ***Two Thumbs Up*** I used this wire mold for extending a power outlet for a baby monitor. Glue seems strong and I was able to paint over it right away. Great product at a great price. Buy with confidence!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price It is probably designed to sit along the baseboard. If you use the adhesive on the wall it will fall within a day or two. I used two #2 screws to mount each section to the wall. First drill a hole with a small bit on each end of the channel, then run your wire through and use the adhesive to hold it in place, then use the screws to mount it. For the price against a white wall or edging it's perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product when you do not want to hardwire. Wonderful invention! Wanted a light in kitchen in a dark corner. Got on Home Depot on line. Picked out a beautiful vanity light and the Cord Mate. Made a 5 x 7 x 1 1/2" box and lid. Secured box to wall with dry wall fasteners and screws. Painted Cord Mate and box to match wall paint. Cut an extension core and wired to new light. Drilled hole for mounting screw and put light up. Drilled hole in bottom middle of box and brought extension cord through it. Plugged in remote control. Hit the switch and I have the most beautiful light coming through the kitchen. Cord Mate made it complete instead of ugly cord hanging down. Get creative, use imagination and go to Home Depot. I love my new light and the Cord Mate made it look even better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product that serves its purpose well I needed to contain the wires going to my rear surround speakers. With the way my entertainment center and furniture are configured to "see" each other, the only way those wires could run was on the floor along the threshold below my front door. I installed this conduit and it worked out perfect, and actually looks good, too. The conduit halves were hard to snap shut, given how stiff the material is. You either need strong fingers or a pair of pliers, but once it`s closed, it`s closed for good. The adhesive is very strong, so once I put it down on my tile floor, it was there to stay. My only regret is I wished I had looked into this sooner, but I got it done now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must for Rabbit Owners to Know About (or Parents who are Childproofing) I bought and installed one of these yesterday- it was not only faster to buy it at my local Home Depot, but it was actually a heck of a lot cheaper than the Amazon price, so win-win! It only holds one cord, but it's still very useful. My cable installer was a little careless and left cable wire out on the floor where my rabbit likes to play. That would be a bad combination, so I needed something to protect the cable from my bunny’s teeth. I'm giving this five stars because I absolutely love the product- it was simple to put my TV cable into the cordmate and it was simple to stick to the wall (it has a self-stick adhesive on it). This was much easier to use and much more aesthetically pleasing than the vinyl tubing that many of us rabbit owners use to protect our cords. It took me a total of five minutes to re-rabbit proof my bunny's corner using this system. That being said, using a lot of the whole cordmate/cornermate system is pretty pricey- I can't even fathom how much it would cost to do all the wires and cables in my living room with the cordmate and cornermate system. But if you're a rabbit owner who values your time over your money, then I would 100% recommend that you get the cordmate/cornermate system for your rabbit proofing needs. (Note: everything in this review about "rabbit-proofing" could apply equally well to a parent who is child-proofing and wants to avoid their toddler getting tangled up in/choking/strangling themselves in wires).
