Product Overview

Peace of mind, all the time. The SmartlockPro Self-Test GFCI tests itself even if you forget. Designed to meet the latest UL standard for auto-monitoring (self-test) our complete line of self-test GFCIs periodically conduct an automatic internal test to confirm that it can respond to a ground fault. With the slimmest profile on the market, the device allows for fast and easy installation, while Leviton's patented reset lockout mechanism prevents reset of the GFCI if it is not wired or operating correctly. The SmartlockPro Self-Test GFCI is the smart choice in ground fault circuit interrupter protection.

  • Provides continuous ground fault protection - detects and trips on actual ground fault even when self-test is being conducted
  • On initial power up, tests the GFCI within 3 seconds
  • Auto-monitoring exceeds the UL requirement
  • Auto adapts and shifts to more frequent testing if potential problem is detected
  • Status indicator light provides simple, intuitive feedback on power and protection status as well as indication of line/load reversal
  • Patented lockout action prevents reset if GFCI is damaged and cannot respond to a ground fault
  • Electronics are designed to minimize any false triggers
  • Reduced depth makes it easier to install in any electrical box, even shallow ones
  • Terminals allow for easy wiring options-back and side wire capable
  • External back wire clamps provide visual indication of proper wire seating
  • Withstands high torque and resists wire pullout
  • Standard brass self-grounding clip
  • Trip threshold meets or exceeds UL requirements for tripping time
  • Improved immunity to high-frequency noise reduces nuisance tripping
  • Advanced electronics design provides superior resistance to electrical surges and over-voltages
  • Compatible with all decora devices and wall plates; available in select decora colors
  • UL fed spec WC-596 rated

No. The National Electric Code requires that 125 volt outlets of this type installed outdoors be protected by a weatherproof cover AND be of a weather-resistant type. NEC 406.9 (A) Damp Locations. A receptacle installed outdoors in a location protected from the weather --- shall have an enclosure for the receptacle that is weatherproof when the receptacle is covered. --- All 15 and 20 ampere, 125 and 250 volt nonlocking receptacles shall be a listed weather-resistant type. (1) Receptacles of 15 and 20 Amperes in a Wet Location. --- shall have an enclosure that is weatherproof whether of not the attachment plug cap is inserted. --- All 15 and 20 ampere, 125 and 250 volt nonlocking receptacles shall be a listed weather-resistant type.

I have one similar to this in a bathroom that has stopped working and I assume the plug is bad and needs replacing. I am not sure if it is 15 or 20 amp. Is there a way to tell? If it is 15 Amp is it a problem to replace with 20 Amp? The house is in Corona.
Asked by: Corona
the amperage is usually stamped on the mounting flange where the screw s hold it to the box, and looking at the plug entry slots there is one that has a " T " sort of design on the larger slot , usually on the left side if the ground ( round pin ) on bottom, sometimes GFCI will-can quit. and some do not like damp locations, lots of steam, ? loose wires on screw s, JR Massachusetts,

I have a refrigerator in my garage that is plug in to a 15amp GFI 125 volt outlet and it keeps tripping. Should I go to a 20AMP GFCI instead?

Asked by: Ben
Refrigerators don't need a 20 amp breaker. I'd have a technician check the refrigerator for a problem. It's tripping the breaker for a reason

Replaced an older version of this product that was activating the circuit interrupt when my wife used her hair dryer. Replacement seems to be functioning just fine. I like the the small indicator light that lets me know at a glance that the unit is working properly. Original unit could have been as much as 30 years old and had tripped hundreds of times before failing to reset.

This outlet is used for any place that is near water, i.e. kitchen, bathroom. You should use 20 amp for those areas. Ask your builder or town building department how far from the sink these should be placed. You may be required to use a 20 amp receptacle when it's the only outlet on the circuit (usually in bathrooms there is one but kitchens could have two or more.

The "load" side is taped over with a strip so that the installer doesn't mistakenly connect the line to them. Although it's sold as a "slim" design, requiring less box depth, it seemed like a standard-sized unit to me. The "reset" does require a firm press, more than expected.

If there is a difference in current between current from the hot to neutral side it should snap off protecting anyone who may be part of that circuit who could be conducting the current to ground preventing electrocution. It seems to patiently wait to do that.

Easy to install.. the one thing I don't like about it, is that you have to screw the wires on rather than just insert them into the proper sites on the back. I think the more expensive outlets have the 'female' insert for putting the wire. All in all though it did the job.

I was stumped by the difference in the price of the same product made by the same company the only difference between the two products was the color of the reset buttons but the price difference was two to three dollars.

Be aware of the load and line connection points as these were the reverse of the 12 year old outlet that was being replaced. Found the indicator LED nice for detection that circuit was tripped.
