Hi,
I installed this timer to operate this fan: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Progress-Lighting-50-CFM-Ceiling-or-Wall-Exhaust-Fan-PV001-30/202639871#.
The speed of the fan has decreased. Is that normal? Are these products compatible?
Thanks for your response.

Answer:
No. This 6161T won't work with any fan, nor any motor. It's for incandescent lights only. Leviton LTB60-1LZ 1800watt will work with fans. But it seems HD doesn't carry it.

Answer:
It should be ok. We have 3 of these same Leviton timmer switxhes, one for an 80 cfm exhaust fan, one for a 90 cfm and one for a 110 cfm exhaust fan and all work great. Just be sure you have it wired properly. I called Leviton for our one fan that was a 3 way switch and they explained the correct wiring.

Answer:
The leviton 6161t is not compatible with fans (or cfls). It is an obsolete product that should be completely discontinued. The reason your fan speed decreased is because this timer doesn't provide the full voltage and amperage that the fan needs to run properly.

Answer:
I would guess not. I installed one to control the exhaust fan in my bathroom, & the fan speed slowed considerably compared to running it with just an on/off switch.
I returned it & purchased an Intermatic E1210W Timer on eBay for about the same price. It works well & does not decrease my fan speed.

Answer:
Good day,
The 6161T is not rated for motor loads, which is why the speed on your fan has decreased. You need to purchase a timer that is rated to control motor loads.

Answer:
Because that's the correct model for motors. The Leviton timer in stock at the store will not work for bathroom fans. Instead, look at the Defiant 49816 timer, which is rated for up to a .25 hp motor. It's the same price as the Leviton and should always be in stock.

The 6161t timer switch is an obsolete product that will not provide the full power needed to exhaust fans, nor will it run CFLs. Don't buy this garbage, save yourself and whoever buys your house next a bunch of trouble.

Answer:
Good day,
The 6161T countdown timer is only rated for 500W incandescent. If your application calls for under 500W of incandescent bulbs, then you can use this timer. If you are also controlling the exhaust fan, then you need to use the LTB60-1LZ instead of the 6161T.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have one of this switch installed by the builder of my condo bath room which controls the bath room fan. However I found the fan can never stop because the last button was set up as NEVER STOP but only at a lower speed for the fan motor. How can I have one more choice(button) to have both NEVER STOP after minutes timer, and also there is a manually choice to stop the fan especially at night time. You know it is noisy at night. At daytime I am okay to have the fan run all the time.

Thank you very much in advance!

Victor

Answer:
The button on the bottom simply turns off the fan or what ever you have hooked up to this switch! For example, if you have a higher timmer setting than you need, before you leave, just simply press the bottom button to shut it off!!!
