Customer Questions & Answers

Is it safe to connect 3 of these to make 4 sockets?

Put 1 in the electrical socket then 1 more in each end of the first adapter.
Asked by: homegut
As long as the total wattage of the bulbs does not exceed the 660 watt rating of the first adapter all power passes through, it should be safe electrically speaking. The fixture, if enclosed, must be rated to the total wattage as well. (The stickers stating maximum wattage are on modern fixtures where this may be a concern, and has to do with heat dissipation & fire prevention, as opposed to being a limit of current carrying capacity of the fixture, which should also not be exceeded by your desired total wattage of the 4 bulbs. Using them stacked like this also is likely NOT a UL listed application for the product, and thus, could void your insurance coverage if the setup was found to be the source of a fire.

Can this adapter safely be used upside-down ( i.e., on a ceiling) with two 100-watt incandescent bulbs?

Asked by: jmac
Hello jmac, The adapter is rated for up to 660w. As long as the fixture can handle the wattage it's fine. You can also use CFL's or LEDs to lower the energy consumption and heat while maintaining light output. I hope this helps. Cheers, Chris

Will this adapter work overseas on 220v/230v/240v lamps, provided I use lightbulbs rated for 220v/230v/240v and do not exceed the 660 WATT rating?

Asked by: Roger
As long as you don't exceed the 600 Watt rating of the two bulbs combined, I don't think you should have a problem using this adapter on 220/230/240 Volts. Rated 5 out of 5 by from They work Great! I used the socket extenders to expand and make a grow lighting system. I used a trouble light for the first socket and then added 3 of these twin socket adapters. Works great with the cfl lights I used - everything all together is only 52 watts - so still less than ONE regular bulb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for LED light bulbs This item is good for installing two LED light bulbs in the same socket, as they currently only make them up to 60W Equivalent (950 Lumens), meaning you can have 1900 Lumens of light, while having the power efficiency, temperature and vibration tolerance and safety of LED lighting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let there be light! My 2 car garage was too dark with just one 23W CFL bulb (100W filament equivalent). So I connected three splitters into one and connected to my existing socket. After putting 4 23W CFL bulbs in them, I can now not only work on the car, but even proof read manuscripts in there! Great idea to get more light for very little money - and no need for an electrician. Make sure you use Phillips CFL bulbs, since they come on fast and last much longer than off brand bulbs.
