If say you were to install these slides on the bottom of a drawer, or appliance, instead of on the side. Would the bearings work as smoothly, or would they catch more?

Answer:
Gauge27 ~ The type of bearing used in these drawer slides is designed to move smoothly with the weight of a loaded drawer when mounted on the side. When laid flat and mounted under a drawer the parts of the slide are squeezed together, causing the bearings to bind and possibly damaging them. Kind Regards, emccollum

•Available in 14 in., 16 in., 18 in., 20 in., 22 in. and 24 in. L available to fit most drawer sizes
The general rule of drawer slides, are that you take anywhere from 1/2 inch to 1 inch away from the drawer length. This allows room for the drawer slide to move appropriately.
So, you would need a drawer slide between 10 inches and 11 1/2 inches. The 14 in. would be too long.

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 44 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice "Heavy Duty" Drawer Rail I bought "ONE" of these to replace the drawer slides of my garbage can holder in my custom Haas cabinets, which BTW lasted 20+ years, I worked pretty good other than the inner most brackets where different but all the rest exactly the same, So I dismantled each slide & put the old brackets on & reassembled & simply screwed the units in place, The other inner rails were just screwed to the drawer assembly with supplied screws.. Slid together & it's working great & hopefully will be going for another 20 years, You gotta figure the garbage can gets open about 100 times a day & being the last one lasted 20 years that's way over a million openings & has about 20 pounds hanging on it at all times.. Great Item at a great price.. March 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by beware the top rail These slides are well made and quite durable. However, I purchased 8 pair of these and 5 were square and flat along the top (perfect for setting a level on) and the other 3 were beveled along the top and level wouldn't sit flush. Hardly a reason to pass up on a great drawer slide, just wanted to give a heads up August 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by these drawer slides are awesome! Sick of closet clutter and the cost of installing pre made closet organizers, I decided to take up woodworking and build my own. I started with a chest of drawers and some shelves and since have made 4 more chests. I have now purchased 20 Liberty drawer slides from Home Depot. They're easy to install and roll so smoothly I have to open a drawer when walking by just to enjoy my accomplishment. Planning my next project that will definitely include more Liberty drawer slides. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good purchase I had no problems installing the drawer slides. Excellent quality March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product if installed correctly I've used other drawer slides and for the money, these can't be beaten. If you are looking for 'soft close' or 'self closing' then this product is NOT for you. But they work well provided you take the time to install them correctly. I recommend using a torpedo level when installing them. The instructions just say to make sure the front and back are the same height but the level provides more accuracy. They also need to be installed at 90 degrees to the face of the cabinet. Also make sure that the distance between the slides is the same at the back as in the front., this prevents binding and that 'sticking' feeling when opening or closing. The rear sockets and front clips are not included so you will need to purchase those separately. I wish they just included them in the same package. Take your time when installing, allow for the stated clearances, make sure they are level and not racked, and you will love these. January 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Purchased 5 set of Liberty soft sliders After purchasing 5 set one fell apart the other would not line up with cabinets. rechecked all cabinet measurements unit will not close correctly. Liberty as far as I am concerned has Junk Material. December 24, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Drawer slide Slides work well but tolerance is tight. Make sure gaps on sides of drawers is as close as possible. November 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solid Value These glides are sturdy and reliable -- as well as relatively easy to install. I used 14 of them in a bank of shop drawers supporting heavy woodworking tools, and they glide effortlessly. My only complaint (and I have the same complaint of all competing products) is the included mounting screws. They are simply too small. I would purchase #8 x 1/2" pan head screws (from Home Depot, of course). September 15, 2015
