we have dogs and wonder if the surface is resistant to the scratches from their nails
Asked by: JD
I do not own the flooring but I did buy a sample to test it. Upon scraping very hard, with a sharp key, it does scratch but not in an obvious way. I can't imagine a dog would be able to do it by walking. I only added this answer because another person said it scratched when lightly keying it. I did NOT have that experience.

HI, THE HOME DEPOT HAS A HUGE SELECTION OF TRANSITION PIECES, I DID A TRANSITION FROM MY NEW LIFEPROOF FLOOR TO A OAK HARDWOOD FLOOR YESTERDAY THE TRANSITION PIECE WAS OAK AND FIT OVER A CHANNEL THAT WAS SCREWED TO THE OAK FLOOR. THE FIT AND FINISH WAS PERFECT AND IT ALLOWS THE LIFEPROOF FLOOR THE FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT. I HOPE THIS HELPS

8.7 in. x 47.6 in. Sterling Oak Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring (20.06 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 68.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice bathroom flooring This Life-Proof flooring is a great addition to the bathroom. Not wanting tile, we needed something else that would be waterproof. This flooring claims to do that job. It has a nice wood appearance, but has the durability of vinyl. Installation is easy, as it already has the pad attached to the back. I have installed it over concrete and it just clicks together. I would recommend for any projects where your flooring needs to be waterproof and hold up to high traffic.

Bittersweet, I've put down a few floors however, as I had to accept the final look because of several factors i.e. ooby waby walls and floors, that made it much more difficult to get each plank flat and smooth however did get them to lock. The seals are very soft between a rubber/putty kind of material and if you have to break them apart it's tricky to do and keep the seals in tack to retry a better fitting plank. and I did find 50 percent of the time swapping a plank did the trick. The planks on the long end will slide back and forth so make sure your first row is straight, "very" straight and well gapless backed and the rest of the planks go easy on a flat floor however, if the first row is "NOT" perfectly straight and against a perfectly straight backed/gapless wall, as you lay the field it will start to keystone on ya and "WILL" drive you insane when you can't get some of them smooth when locked or the ends have gaps you can't close. Very arduous and time consuming to just use a razor/utility knife to snap, it's a more rigid plank so I found using a table saw/chop saw/jig saw made all the cuts effortless, of course this is DIY home owner opinion, in the professional world the boys would not bring along saws, they have Popeye wrists so using a utility knife no matter how thick is effortless. DO NOT use any chemicals at all it will leave a non removable residue, I used a very mild dish detergent on a couple planks however had a rinse rag also and all good. This flooring is NOT glossy so whew didn't have to go crazy keep it that way.

I was trying to figure out what kind of flooring to use for my kitchen, entry way and half bath. I finally decided on this luxury vinyl plank flooring and I couldn't be happier. It was easy to install and it looks beautiful. It looks like wood flooring but is very durable and waterproof, which is important in both the kitchen and bathroom. I plan on putting the same flooring in my other bathrooms and laundry room!!

I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 just because the installation required some serious hammering to get them to truly lock in place without seems showing. You will also need several sharp blades to score them. We installed this in our bathroom and when some water dropped on the floor it just beaded up which is a good sign.

I'm glad I watched the installation video as this floor needs to be installed differently than most laminates because of the snap and lock end seams. I found that with this and most lock together laminates, a tapping block is a MUST. I installed 200 sq. ft. in our kitchen. I choose this floor because it is 7mm thick and is waterproof. This floor has transformed our kitchen into a show place.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Finicky Flooring This floor is Beautiful, claimed water proof, quite to walk on with one major flaw. It's tongue and grove that creates the water proof seal is fragile, particular with partnering plankes, and must be meticulous when installing. If your walls aren't square or your subfloor is uneven welcome to a flooring nightmare taking an outrageous amount of time to install correctly without gaps. Be Extremely cautious when seating the planks or you will break them. Essentially if the board doesn't almost lock immediately into place without much pressure you may take the next half hour fixing the other plank or finding one that will fit tight. I have installed laminate floors with ease and a smile on my face but when installing this particular floor my patience was tested and my time was all for not. Even After taking apart the floor four times to get gaps out and replace planks new gaps emerge and can be created if any tongue was damaged and fails after being walked on. In a perfect world where your floor is smooth and even and all your walls are square this floor would be a breeze with just swapping some planks that mate better. But that's not reality if you are self-installing clear your schedule take extreme caution and never force a plank. Honestly if choosing this floor pay for installation so they can eat up the waste cost of broken planks or fixing the floor when gaps appear. I'm so disappointed installing laminate is usually a breeze life proof needs improvements on their locking system figure that out this would have been a fine floor. I purchased laminate to replace my new life proof floor with I do not recommend this floor and will never submit myself to frustration that comes with it ever again. Will be filing a claim in hopes for some of the money spent on this faulty product if the COS at my local Home Depot ever gets back to me. Good luck folks PS go Pergo or cheaper options for a far better installing experience
