Answer:
Yes, you'd just have to cover the photocell with a piece of electrical tape to help ensure they'd always be ready to come on. And be aware that since they are "dusk-to-dawn" lights they will take 5 seconds to turn on once you flip the switch because they need to register that the photocell is saying it's dark outside.

Answer:
You certainly can put a switch in the circuit but that will not override the photo cell in the lamp. If you turn on the power and it is not dark enough for the photo cell to turn on the light will not come on.

Answer:
It DOES have a photocell, but a switch would allow you to turn the power off completely, should you not want any light when the sun has set. You can also tape over the photocell at the bottom of the light so it would stay ON all the time, and just use the switch to control the light,, but that would seem to negate the advantage of having the built in control.

Where is the photocell located?

This question is from Dusk-to-Dawn Bronze Wall-Mount LED Mini Single-Head Outdoor Flood Light

The location of the photocell can affect how long the lamp stays on. The lamp I am replacing has the photocell on top of the lamp and is mounted under an eave. So the eave and the lamp shades the photocell causing the light to be on longer. Where is the photocell located on this light?

Answer:
The photo cell is located on the mounting flange. Because the flange is mounted to the box by means of a central screw, you can rotate the flange 360 degrees. This allows the photo cell to face any direction from straight up, to the side or even straight down.

Answer:
The mount allows you to mount the base with the sensor facing the direction you want and still aim the light where you want it.
Mine wouldn't turn off and after reading your question, and some of the responses, I rotated my base 90 degrees and now it turns off during the day. I think having mine pointed down to a blacktop driveway and in an area that doesn't get direct sunlight was the problem.

about sunset to sunrise
maybe a little more
it comes on before its really dark but i think that's a good thing and its LED so you're not wasting energy and you don't have to worry about the life of a "light bulb"

I have it mounted to my barn, about 15’ up, shining into the drive. If I had to guess it must light a area that is about 25' by 50'; give or take. Since there are buildings on three sides of this area it might light a bigger area in a different scenario.

The answer depends on whether you need enough light to read a newspaper or just to keep the bad guys away. (My need was the latter)
The rated area is about 20 x 20 feet, although in my case, the area lit by this device is more like 50 x 50 feet...more than enough to ward off uninvited "guests".

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 75 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good light This light is not CRAZY bright, but it is sufficient as a floodlight around the homestead, and, in my opinion, it has a great color temperature. It is a nice bright white color that stands out, especially next to a yellow halogen light I also have in the back yard. I mounted three of these lights around the perimeter of my shop, which is 75 ft away from the back of my house. Even with three of these lights installed 75 ft away I do not think they made a drastic difference as far as light added to my back porch. The previous reviews were making me wary and thinking my neighbors would be displeased when I put them up. I consulted my neighbor whose front door is 200 ft away from the closest of the three lights and he said he didn't even notice it. Installation was very easy concerning the fixture. However, I had to run three different sections of conduit and 12-2-2-2 romex cable by myself for my particular install, so I spent a day and a half for install. I did install them all to the same switch so that I can turn them off at night if desired. But mostly I put them on the switch so that if/when the photocell goes out (as many reviews say) I can still turn them off during daylight hours. The photocell is definitely sensitive. Two of the lights are mounted under a porch roof and they turn on with about two hours until sunset. The third light is mounted facing directly at the setting sun and it still turn on about an hour before sunset. (I'm in the greater Houston, TX area for twilight references). Hope this helps. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not long lasting I work at a hotel, and when one of my existing light bulbs blow out, I have been replacing it with this light fixture. At first the fixture is good looking and works amazingly. But they only last about a year. I have changed out every single one I have put in (3) they start to dim or don't work at all. I am currently trying to find another solution. July 22, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good product and functions well The installation took more effort than expected. The appearance is good, but for the price it is very basic. July 5, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great amount of light BUT , blinks on and off Like lots of other reviewers say , sensitivity level of photocell is bad It does work at night, and is off during day, but near sunup blinks badly,(maybe at dusk also but not sure) Near sunup the light blinks on and off continuously every second , I just sent email about it to the company, most say their customers service is not good but I will give them a chance to see if and how they reply If not resolved easily it will have to be returned to Home Depot, I hate to do that because it does give off a good deal of light for low power consumption being it's LED, plus the time it takes to go back into attic and disconnect the wires and then go back to store with it February 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Liked the light but dissappointed Bought the light last summer and found it easy to installed. Went up in less than one hour. The lighting was great and covered the area that I wanted from dusk to dawn. It went through the winter without any problems. Now, Spring time, the light will not go on. Emailed the company to see what can be done to fix the light or replace it. Have not heard from them as of yet and still in the dark. I don't think I would recommend this product if I can't get the light fixed. March 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bright light This is a typical bright white led fixture. I chose it for the high output (1400+lumens). Lights up the front of my house plenty. The dusk to dawn photocell can be rotated 360 degrees so you can adjust it depending on where the sun sets. Super energy efficient. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it. Second one I bought. Can be angled to shine or not where you want it. I have them wired with no switch. They both come on at the same time mounted in different locations in my back yard, they turn off in the morning. Been installed for two months. If this light is in your budget I highly recommend it. I have nothing negative to say about this light at this time. March 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Light Puts out a lot more light than I expected. Photo cell turns it on way before dark. March 15, 2016
