Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good light but can interfere with your radio. Bought three of these fixtures for my shop (10' ceilings). They put out great light and were very easy to install. The only issue I have had is radio interference. They are on three separate light switches, so when I noticed that my DeWalt Radio was sounding fuzzy, I tracked the interference to one fixture. I checked all of the connections and they were tight. I called Lithonia and was told that these are considered industrial fixtures and the ballasts are not required to meet the residential interference specifications. So if you purchase this fixture you MAY have an issue with radio reception. I only have it on one, so it's not necessarily going to happen to you. November 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No Instructions - But Worth The Install This unit comes with spartan instructions on the box, and presents a bit of a challenge for the electrical connection. First off, you need to PURCHASE SEPARATELY the chain hanger for an easy install -- they are not included (Part HC-36) located in the same aisle at Home Depot. The wiring is a bit confusing, and no external diagram is included nor is it easy to find on the web. If you disassemble the fixture, you find the directions on the ballast that there are three wires -- White, Black -- and RED (although on the other side of the connector is is GRAY). The White and Black connect in the usual way, white to white and black to black.. The Red (aka GRAY) can be connected to the WHITE -- and then the fixture will function at 100% brightness. If left unconnected, it starts at 100% but then dims (I think to 60%), Alternately you could arrange for a dimmer operation by installing a switch in-line between the RED and the White.. Once installed the unit is very Bright (another reviewer said it best -- did I install the sun in here?) -- and my dark garage is now bright. Now I just need to install my other unit in the other garage bay and I will be all set. I wish the manufacturer would include instructions for the unit -- but they are here now so you don't have the long install that I did. I have included a photo of the Ballast so others don't need to disassemble their units. It shows the written instructions, and also the connector with the Gray to Red color change. September 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Verry decent light for the money These lights are sturdy and bright, but keep in mind a light is only as bright as the bulb you put in it. I bought one of these using GE Daylight bulbs and was thrilled. I then went out and bought another light fixture but accidentally grabbed the wrong bulbs which have a bit more of a yellow hue to them. I ended up putting 3 of each in each fixture and the results were satisfying for me. I have one of these hung in each garage bay above and in front of the engine compartment and can easily work on the top of the engine without using a trouble light. We had some temps go down to about 10 degrees in early November and the lights came right on. Some might consider these a bit expensive but for a 6 bulb fixture I think the price was right on. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bright lights...but failures after 2 years. I installed 4 of these fixtures in my 30x40 shop with 16 foot ceiling. Everything went great for first year and a half when one fixture started loosing 3 bulbs. Sometimes they would work, other times not. I replaced the ballast in that fixture and fixed it. Not a month later a 2nd fixture started loosing 3 bulbs at a time. Fast forward to exactly 3 years since I bought them, all 4 fixtures has lost 1 ballast, and 1 fixture I've had to replace both ballasts now. The ballast this fixture requires are almost $30 each. 2 per fixture. keep this in mind... September 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is a very good high bay light for a very reasonable price. I love how bright my art gallery is now! There is a large footprint of strong light. I bought the most expensive "daylight" bulbs. I like the light fixtures so much I have ordered more for my workshop. March 6, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great if you don't mind replacing the ballast in a year or two. Purchased four of these units for our warehouse area and they are very bright! After about two years, two of the fixtures have lost a ballast (there are two ballast in each fixture) leaving only 3 of 6 bulbs lit. While these weren't hugely expensive - it'll actually cost more to have an electrician come up and replace the ballast than the fixture originally cost. I have another facility I'm purchasing 8 fixtures for but I've decided to go with a competitor's model that Home depot doesn't carry. It's made by Cooper Lighting uses an Osram ballast which I hope will work better (good name). That ballast has a 5 year warranty. Home depot may not be willing to purchase a better fixture but what's the point in saving a few bucks on the initial purchase if it breaks in 2 years. Something like this is more of a pain to fix than it would be to just spend extra on a decent fixture. If the new fixtures work out I'll likely just replace these ones with the other brand as well as buying them for all of my other locations. December 3, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by six of eight units bad in less than 2 years, but out of warranty. Don't buy. I bought eight fixtures 2 years ago. As of today, six of the eight units are defective. One unit has both ballasts out, so no lights. The other five have one ballast out (three bulbs out). I have read of others having this same issue. I can understand some failures, but six of eight, that's just bad. Fixtures like this should last 10-15 years, not less than 2. I asked a question on this site about how I could possibly get the units replaced under warranty since so many went bad, but the question was rejected. It's time to make some more noise elsewhere. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Holy cow is that the sun I installed in my garage!!! If you want a ligting system that is fairly easy to install but puts off enough light to melt the skin from your face this is it. I bought 3 of these lights upon seeing them in the store and how much light one gave off. I have a 2 bay garage and a 1/2 in the back of garage. One light gives off enough light to see everything. 3 is a little over kill but I like to work on cars in the garage at house so more light the better. If you buy this lighting system you will not be dissapointed. Cost is a little high compared to others but you get a light that starts up in like .2 secs and also starts at 0 Degress. I live in Maine so that is important even in my fully insulated garage, no heat in there though. September 17, 2011
