Answer:
The Loctite Threadlocker’s are not compatible with plastics. Stress cracking of the plastic could result. Depending upon the type of plastic involved you might try a super glue liquid with the understanding that removal may not be possible.

Answer:
The Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242 is designed for metal fasteners 1/4” (6 mm) to 3/4” (19 mm) in diameter such as bolts on small engines, swing sets and furniture. For disassembly, shear with standard hand tools and remove with methylene chloride. In rare instances where hand tools do not work because of excessive engagement length, apply localized heat to nut or bolt to approximately 482°F (250°C). Read More

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked perfectly. I was having trouble tightening my Really Right Stuff BH-30 ball head on my Gitzo GT0531 tripod platform. Every time I locked the quick release lever, I'd unscrew the ballhead. A couple drops of Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242, a wait of 24 hours, and never had the problem again. September 11, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great on anything, but not plastic. I use this on everything that will tend to vibrate loose, cars, motorcycles, motorbikes, lawn equipment, everything. But not plastics as the 1 star rater did, it actually says don't use on plastic, at all, on the back. It should be worth noting if the object is plastic and requires metal 'studs' for machine screws, then don't use lock tight, as the forces lock tight fights are probably strong enough to break plastic parts, also not recommended under 1/4 in or 6 mm, if the plastic is using studs at that size bolt then it's so cheap you shouldn't have shelled out any money on it in the first place as plastic that size should be able to hold it just fine, could be that tiny machine screws requiring 110 pounds of torque to remove might also break plastic in the process. Just my 2 cents. October 21, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by the loctite broke my plastic pieces even though the screw and the screw where it sits are metal and the housings were plastic It discoloered the plastic and made the plastic brittle even through the screw is metal and threads were metal thought loctite would be ok for the customer the customer was not happy bad for the customers application February 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works! I use this Loctite 0.2 fl. oz. Blue 242 Thread Locker on screw threads that you need to be locked tight, yet with some pressure to allow it to be unscrewed. In other words, it is a removable thread locker rather than permanently locked. Works as advertised. January 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Loctite is always good This is great stuff for keeping things from coming undone. And with the blue Loctite you can still remove the screw later if you need to. June 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use and even easier clean up I used this on the screws for a replacement belt clip for a pocket knife. Worked great and after curing overnight I have no doubt it my mind it will hold for a very long time. April 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great products saved me from having to buy another trigger for my paintball gun December 24, 2010
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This is the real deal! Although somewhat pricy for a small tube, this is the real deal! Great for screws! April 28, 2010
