Can this be used in a outboard engine, to assist is the bolt attaching the zinc anode to propeller area?
Asked by: Ken
First zinc suffers the effects of galvanic corrosion in marine use. Second the success of using the Threadlocker will depend upon the type of nut and bolt metal. For example it is particularly well suited for less active substrates such as stainless steel or plated metals where disassembly is required for servicing. If this is the case the Threadlocker 242 could help but the overall results cannot be guaranteed in this particular use situation. However the product is not well suited for metals like brass or bronze. Should this be the situation we recommend you follow the zinc anode manufacturer’s instructions or contact the outboard engine manufacturer for assistance?

We have some knobs that can't seem to stop loosening every few weeks, mainly on the pantry door. So I bought some of this loctite and problem solved! You just put a little bit on the threads and screw it back in. Takes 24 hours to cure properly, but it's as simple as that. This particular loctite is for 1/4" to 3/4" fasteners. Pros: Quick way to keep screws from getting loose. Cons: Be careful cutting the tip off of the tube because it can get messy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked perfectly. I was having trouble tightening my Really Right Stuff BH-30 ball head on my Gitzo GT0531 tripod platform. Every time I locked the quick release lever, I'd unscrew the ballhead. A couple drops of Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242, a wait of 24 hours, and never had the problem again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works! I use this Loctite 0.2 fl. oz. Blue 242 Thread Locker on screw threads that you need to be locked tight, yet with some pressure to allow it to be unscrewed. In other words, it is a removable thread locker rather than permanently locked. Works as advertised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great on anything, but not plastic. I use this on everything that will tend to vibrate loose, cars, motorcycles, motorbikes, lawn equipment, everything. But not plastics as the 1 star rater did, it actually says don't use on plastic, at all, on the back. It should be worth noting if the object is plastic and requires metal 'studs' for machine screws, then don't use lock tight, as the forces lock tight fights are probably strong enough to break plastic parts, also not recommended under 1/4 in or 6 mm, if the plastic is using studs at that size bolt then it's so cheap you shouldn't have shelled out any money on it in the first place as plastic that size should be able to hold it just fine, could be that tiny machine screws requiring 110 pounds of torque to remove might also break plastic in the process. Just my 2 cents.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loctite is always good This is great stuff for keeping things from coming undone. And with the blue Loctite you can still remove the screw later if you need to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and even easier clean up I used this on the screws for a replacement belt clip for a pocket knife. Worked great and after curing overnight I have no doubt it my mind it will hold for a very long time.
