when using the remote does it have to be in line of site of the wall switch?

The switches operate on a wireless protocol, so line of sight is not a factor.

Will these switches work with non dimmable bulbs? I do not want to dim them, I just don't want to change them out.
Asked by: B1gutfan
These dimmer products are not rated to handle non dimmable bulbs due to the fact that even at full on, they are still technically dimming. A solution to this situation would be to use the switching only products in the Caseta Line such as the PD-5WS-DV-WH.

Can the Pico Remote be mounted in a regular rectangular switchplate

I made a mistake planning the lighting for my bedroom and now the switch that controls the lights I'd like to turn on is switched from across the room from the door. I'm looking for a wireless solution and have a "blank" in the electrical box by the door. So I'm wanting to replace the switch across the room with the dimmer unit and permanently mount the Pico by the door. Can that be done? How is the Pico affixed to the switchplate?
Asked by: PeteVO
Yes, you can purchase a separate wall plate for this installation. I used this configuration for my 3-way and 4-way switches.

Are maestro dimmer switches compatible with the caseta dimmers?

Asked by: Polaris
Nope. Different systems, you can't combine them on the same light.

Caseta Wireless 600/150-Watt In-Wall Dimmer with Pico Remote Control Kit - White is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 121.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Way To A Smart Home I have a couple of Harmony hubs and A Smartthings hub, so I was kind of hesitant to add yet another hub to the mix. I'm very glad I didn't let that deter me from picking up the Lutron switches and a hub. In total I got 6 switches with pico remotes. I had no problem installing them in single and 3 way switch locations. I found a great tutorial on YouTube. The key is to have dimmable led lights. I have the switches connected to the Lutron hub and that hub connected to my harmony hubs. Alexa can also control them. Pretty slick. I have timers set on the lights so we don't have to rock them to often. On at dusk, dim at a certain time, and off at a certain time.

Nowhere on the box does it say you need any special bulbs for this to work. If you use bulbs not on the compatibility list, (standard Philips LED Bulbs) they may not actually turn off. A dimmer is nice, but I still need the light to turn all the way off. Lutron states that because these are electronic, current must flow through them all the time. I guess they were too lazy to design a better circuit. Installation was typical of any single pole dimmer. Pairing with a Wink Smart home hub was quick and easy. If you don't mind hunting around for compatible bulbs these may work fine for you. I was only able to test with standard 60W compatible Philips and Cree bulbs as that's all I had on hand. Neither turned all the way off. Decided to return product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Dimmer Ever! We turned our guest room into my walk in closet. Unfortunately, the closet now covers the light switch. We needed a dimmer with a remote that had a frequency that could easily reach through the backing of the closet, which is now hiding the light switch. This dimmer is perfect! Not only does the remote work from anywhere inside the room, it works from the living room that is all the way down the hall & past the kitchen. I couldn't believe it! Well worth the money if you want a dimmer with a remote that does not need to reach the actual wall switch when using. A+

The one issue we have is to actually turn off the lights you need to pull out a little tab on the bottom of the switch. It would be nice if the bottom button could be set to completely kill power to the lights. As it is, pressing the bottom button still sends a trickle of electricity to the bulbs (LED in my case), which causes a really dim flutter in the lights. The pre-set button on the remote is pretty handy. Would be awesome if they put that on the main switch as well.

I installed a new cabinet over a light switch and was going to run wiring inside the cabinet to one side where I would cut a hole and mount an electrical box and switch. I wasn't crazy about the idea of cutting a hole in my new cabinet and decided to try a wireless switch instead. I chose the Caseta switch based on the great user reviews and the fact that it didn't need a neutral wire. Installation was very easy. Even though I only needed it to work about 12" from the receiver, before mounting the Pico remote to the side of the cabinet I tested it from twenty feet away and it worked perfectly. The ceiling light that the Caseta switch is controlling currently has spiral fluorescent bulbs in it. They dim okay, but emit a low buzzing sound. I downloaded the compatible dimmable bulbs manual from the Caseta website and will replace the bulbs with compatible LEDs.

The use of wireless remote actually would simplify the existing wires in your home, and you can add additional remotes if you want anywhere else in the house. The app is simple to program. My favorite feature with the app is the coming home setting that allows me to configure which lights I want automatically turned on when I arrive home. I ended up installing these switches throughout my house, and wish I had done so years before. I purchased this for the Alexa integration and I am not disappointed. The response time is faster than the Philips Huge lights, which has a noticeable delay. I use these switches in combination with TP-Link wifi switches, since the TP-Link switches are cheaper for single-pole switches. The Lutron switches also don't require a neutral switch, which I needed for my chandelier.

Nice dimmer and neat remote, actually the remote is on my desk and I use the remote most of the time. Unlike the SureSlide and some other dimmers it does not cause flickering at any level. Mine does not hum, works well. However I am disappointed in that the Caseta does not dim the LED lights as low as the SureSlide, possibly because the switch itself has no trim capability. Overall I like it.

I bought this to replace an older 3-way Lutron Maestro dimmer with infrared remote. The description said it supports multi-location wiring so I assumed it supported 3-way wiring like most Mastros do. Wrong. It is really a single-pole switch with a gimmick. What a messed up marketing gimmick! How does it support multi-way switches? Oh, simple. Just abandon all your old 3-way or 4-way wiring and replace the other switches IN THE WALL with additional wirelss Pico remotes and the Pico remote face-plate. What kind of rocket scientist thought that would be a good idea, abandoning wired switches for additional BATTERY OPERATED remotes and a special, added-cost wall mount kit? Multi-way switch has a pretty universal definition. It means 3-way or more. Advertising an item as multi-way when it is REALLY just a siungle-pole switch that supports multiple remotes is deceptive and should not be tolerated. Hence the 1 star.
