Product Overview

Grecian white is a natural stone marble that illustrates a classical romance. Smooth polished surface of this tile has trendy soft white tones that exude chic elegance. With a large selection of sizes and accessories to choose from, Grecian white can easily be laid in a pattern or single layout. Note: Inspect all tiles before installation. Natural stone products inherently lack uniformity and are subject to variation in color, shade, finish, etc. It is recommended to blend tiles from different boxes when installing. Natural stones may be characterized by dry seams and pits that are often filled. The filling can work its way out and it may be necessary to refill these voids as part of a normal maintenance procedure. All natural stone products should be sealed with a penetrating sealer. After installation, vendor disclaims any liabilities.

I was in the store and I opened a box and the tiles had nicks and chips that were apparent, even in the new boxes. The polished surface was marred. I'm worried about using this because I'm concerned about its durability, and how to care for this. I was going to use it in the shower, but I want something that will be beautiful and not nicked and marred.

Thank you for your question. If you have any product that has chips or nicks, it is recommended that the product be returned and reordered. This is a premium marble, but is susceptible to physical damage and wear & tear.

The short answer to this is, "It's marble." Polished marble will NOT retain it's brand-new showroom shine throughout its lifetime. Keeping it up to a reasonable point requires regular maintenance. As for the surface being nicked...this tile is no more beaten up on purchase than any other marble and onyx tiles I've dealt with in my area. When the tile chips, the damage can usually be repaired with knife-grade epoxy or a purpose-made repair kit.
Granite will generally hold up better under use than marble, and you can really keep up its showroom shine much easier. Marble should be sealed regularly, but no matter what you do, it's going to show wear and tear over time. The condition a marble shower will be in after 40 years is significantly different than what a granite shower will look like.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 99 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High Quality Tiles in Greys/Whites/Light Browns The variegation of the marble tile colors is muted and natural. We used all Home Depot ordered/bought products for this complete BA redo (expect the mirror and toilet - existing). The wall 3x6 tiles were substantial in weight so we used extra adhesive thinset for them on the shower ceiling that was slanted up. The Home Depot Carrara White 12x24 pieces complemented the 3x6 wall tiles nicely. The HD marble pencil trim and chair rail also worked well. Delivery for over 1000 lbs of ordered materials was only $100, and right inside the garage. Returning extras to the local HD store was a small hiccup--3 times the RTV software (return to vendor) was not working so I got store credit instead of a credit card refund. Other returns for store bought items went without a glitch--but the online returns always took more time, sometimes I got my credit card refunded and this last time, not. Online returns apparently relies on a computer system that has issues. Just beware. May 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not white ...and a disaster Ordered these for my holiday home in the Bahamas ...wanted as white a tile as possible. Whilst accepting that being a natural stone the colour would not be consistent, what my contractor received was rubbish and having imported etc. I now have to live with a grey shower....apart from the fact that quite a number were broken ...again we had allowed and accepted a certain rate of failure but the extent was significant. It seems as if because we are not in a position to send back someone deliberately included as many grey tiles as they could....maybe to reduce the stock of those that people generally don't want. Very unhappy with tile and extremely unhappy with the Home Depot online service. The pictures are totally inaccurate in my case - a costly and very disappointing renovation thanks to this. Don't order anything online ...go to a store and check everything before you buy. Waste of time and money. September 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Grecian White in Herringbone for Kitchen I love the finished product of our Grecian White tiles and wanted to share what it looked like in a herringbone pattern. While we did not care to go through 40+ boxes of tiles to get our preferred veining, we had our contractor spread out the different colors over the area so nothing is too concentrated, and we love the variation. While I can't comment on the ease of installation, my contractor says it was a little painful because of the nature of the natural stone product, not all of the tiles are the same size which makes for difficulty with grout lines, placement, etc. March 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stunning!!!! We purchased this tile for our new master bathroom. Jason at Home Depot was absolutely amazing. The end product is INCREDIBLE! The downside is you have to hand select each tile. We purchased 120 boxes sorted through the colors we wanted and then laid them all out to get a feel of how the colors would work together. I wanted more gray than white or gold so I focused more on the gray tiles. We used the delorean gray grout. I am including a few pics. We also purchased the floor tile from Home Depot too. I truly can't say enough about our experience and the product. Truly stunning! July 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worth every penny While at Home Depot, another customer asked why I'd buy this tile vs. a less-expensive option. The answer: With a small bathroom, I felt small tiles would best suit. Laying and grouting these tiles were more work than larger tiles -- which is why I gave the tiles an average 'ease of installation'. BUT: the floor couldn't look better. The tiles are worth the extra time, energy, and expense. April 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love my new kitchen backsplash When I first saw this tile at Home Depot I absolutely loved it. I purchased one box to take home to see how it looked with my granite countertops. The box I purchased must have been "one of a kind," because after placing my order with Home Depot and then reading all of the reviews I realized there might be a problem with matching the tile color. I ended up purchasing 25 boxes of this tile in addition to the 28 boxes I had ordered for the Home Depot installation. I inspected every single tile and took out the colors I wanted--still not exactly like the first box I purchased, but the end result is magnificent and so beautiful. I used a light gray grout which really enhanced the gray veining in the tiles. I highly recommend this tile, but be prepared to look at all of the tiles. Believe me, it's worth all the time and effort and you will definitely have a one of a kind backsplash. April 1, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Good They are made in China- so it's basically the look for the more affordable price. I am really happy with how it turned out. They are grayer than the greenish color shown on the site with hints of brown- which tie in my countertop. They would look good with white, beige, gray or black countertops. October 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks stunning We loved it! Lots of color variation for sure. At first we thought we would separate the different tones to use only greys and whites but ended up using it all and loved it. Like others mention some tile is thicker than other but nothing you can't work with. We are first time yile installers and we did just fine. Great product looks elegant, clean and stunning January 10, 2016
