Customer Questions & Answers

does this have to be bolted to the floor for stability ?

Asked by: mike
It helps, especially if you fill the sink full of water to wash a pet etc.

Does the sink have an overflow prevention, like a hole near the rim? Thanks!

If yes, what diameter?
Asked by: Lad0mSeg0r0
No it does not. My suggestion - get some of the cheap water alarms and mount one on the inside of this tub. This is what I did. If the water gets within 3 inches of the top, the alarm lets me know I need to check and see what's going on. Haven't had an issue yet though!

The dimensions say 24"x20". Which one is the lenght/depth or width?

Asked by: azjeanne
From outer rim to outer rim, because there are edges that appear to be double thickness for strength, 20" wide and 23 1/2 deep.

Can a center hole be cut for a single hole faucet?

Asked by: NewToDIY
This might help answer. Since I had a plumber install mine, mine DOES have a single lever device, newly designed for laundry sinks. Would I buy this particular faucet again? Probably not. I would opt for the spray separate. Reason? When I wash my dog (and that was the reason for purchasing this particular faucet) it makes a terrible racket in the bottom of the tub and scares the bejeebers out of the dog. Also, it's hard to adjust the amount of water coming out. Too much and you might as well climb in too because you're going to get wet. Too little? Not enough force to wash the suds away. In the meantime, the dog is hunting an escape route and I am drenched.

The Utility Tub is easy to install, and is easy to keep clean, especially important when used for cleaning painting brushes, rollers, and pans. It is deep enough to soak large items, or clean grills and other odd-shaped items. I got this one as a replacement during a basement laundry-room renovation, preferring it's compact size, yet retaining a large sink capacity. I installed the same make & model in the laundry room in my parent's house over 35 years ago, and that one is still in use. I expect to get similar results with this installation.

I've had it for a week and it fits the area I had to work with just fine. Though it feels like double wall construction, it isn't. It's certainly is a lot more sturdy that one I had at another house. It doesn't come with a faucet which I liked. That allowed me to have a pull out one installed; great for washing my fourteen lb dog. I had a skinny 'dish drainer' that's about 6"-8" in width and what a fantastic fit both across and from front to back. I can't think of a thing that I don't like about my laundry tub.

We screwed ours to the wall, as opposed to bolting the front legs to the floor (as recommended by the manufacturer). As this is a very easy solution for securing the sink in place, it would have been nice for the design to have a purpose built way of doing this. Also the legs seem flimsy. They are probably more than adequate, but it would have been better if a heavier gauge of steel was used.

The laundry drain line is too small for my washing machine, so this fits the bill. I installed it myself with a few other items from the depot. A plumber quoted me just over $400 for the install of this. I did it myself for the cost of this tub and a few other odds and ends from the depot. Well under $100. Works great, heavy duty, will last a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick, easy and it made such a difference Our existing utility tub was going on 20 years of hard use and was looking really bad. I was able to remove the old tub, install the faucet on the new tub and install the new tub in about half an hour with no issues. Easy to assemble, faucet dropped right in and the brackets on the legs made attachment to the floor as easy as screwing in four screws. Made such a difference and my wife is happy.

I bought the Mustee Utilatub online and did a store pickup, so the process was very easy and fast. I ordered the Utilatub to replace an old one that was past it's useful years, so the installation was pretty straight forward since the hot and cold water lines and the P-trap was already installed. If this is a new install, you might want to get a plumber to help you. The assembly only required the installation of the 4 legs which I tapped into place with a rubber mallet. I installed the sink against a wall in the garage with 2 screws that I installed though holes that I drilled in the lip of the back of the sink (faucet side). It would be nice if Mustee would supply a couple of metal clips that you screw into the wall first and then install the sink onto the clips to keep the sink stable. I have been using the Utilatub for 2 months and I am more than satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it my family or friends.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from beware The 1-1/2 drain nut that it comes with is the only nut that works, no other nut will work. Whats wrong with that you ask? Later down the line when nut breaks you would need to order from the company because the treads on the tub are not standard and thats if they still have it on stock. Good luck returning tub now
