Customer Questions & Answers

can i remove the side handle??

the handle on the right side of the tool
Asked by: Mario
yes . Just unscrew it, no tools needed. It can be screwed in to either side. I wouldn't advise using the grinder without a handle, the way it can jump around it would not be safe.

what does an ac/dc switch do as far as function?

Does that let it run on a battery?
Asked by: azap
Gas-operated welder / generators often have a 120v DC outlet, and this switch enables this grinder to be used safely with such.

Can I use it to grind logs on my house? Some of the butts are an inch or less bigger than the log butt beside it.

Asked by: masholnomo
Are they 12" + diameter logs? Yikes. With the 1" protrusion, you should be able to use this grinder to cut across the face of that log with a cut-off wheel attachment. Keep in mind that the center arbor sticks out about 1/4" from the abrasive surface. Hold firm and go slow. Getting a perfect flush cut across may be challenging (you'd have to keep checking the surface flatness with a straight-edge as you get close). If you don't have a saw available (reciprocating or manual) to at least cut close to where you need, and there are there are liberties with how perfect you need the surface, this 4.5" cut-off wheel and a flapper to finish it off should sort you out. Good luck!

How deep will it cut into concrete

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: John
I have cut through concrete over 1 inch thick with no problems. Limit will be the capacity of the blade.

7.5 Amp 4-1/2 in. Angle Grinder is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy use for at least twenty years I am a retired metal worker. We used Makita grinders (2 of them) for at least twenty years with no problems. From cutting metal, grinding welds, finishing work on copper and stainless steel, cutting stone and concrete notches. They were used by myself and at least 8 other employees in shop and field conditions. So they were never pampered, but you must be smart when using them like any tool. Let it do the work and don't force it and it will do the job for years. They are light, nimble, strong and tough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tool Needed a small to medium grinder that I could put sanding disks on to buff metal plates. This grinder worked really well. It is well built and plenty of power, but not too heavy so my arm didn't get tired. The cord has plenty of length which I like. I would recommend this product to others.
