Answer:
You still have to mix the oil and gas at the recommended ratios set forth in your owner's manual.
Mechanic in a Bottle and Ethanol Shield are fuel additives which are used in addition to your gas/oil mixture.

This does not replace the oil used in the mixture. This is added to it. Instructions on the bottle will direct you accordingly.

Think it's to be used by itself. Don't think it would hurt to mix, but probably would do the job you expect. Follow the directions.

Answer:
Yes! I used 2oz of the mechanic in a bottle to a 32oz can of fuel. Ran that thru the motor.
Then put the remaining 2 oz in with 2 gallons of fuel along with a couple oz of stabilizer and it's GOOD TO GO! This stuff WORKS!

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 34 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome stuff! Worked as intended. Generator refused to start after old gas was left in it and separation occurred. Poured this bottle in and let sit for a few hours. Sprayed in some carb spray and started right up! October 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great for gummed up carbs. Just cycle trough engine and wait a few days. Then run for a few min. set another couple of days. Add fresh gas and you should be ready to go. October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by amazingly good, we use it in our riding mower The used to have trouble with starting our riding mower. We also experienced it almost dying when cutting high grass. Now since we have been adding this to the fuel tank the mower functions like a dream! October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It Really Works! I had let my chain saw, weed trimmer and blower sit all winter with fuel in them (my bad!). I bought a bottle of MIB followed the simple directions and all 3 started right up. Wish I had found MIB sooner and it would've saved me about 2 days of work and a blistered hand trying to fix these tools. Buy yourself a bottle! October 1, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mechanic in a Bottle Synthetic Fuel Additive made promises it has yet to keep. I could not get my chainsaw to run well after loaning it to others where it was used with ethanol/gasoline/lubricating oil mixes. I took it to two different small engine repair shops where it was tuned up, sharpened and adjusted. The saw would start easily enough but ran rough and could not develop much power for cutting. The 4 ounce Mechanic In A Bottle Synthetic Fuel Additive promised to quickly fix this engine without having to remove the carburetor, to rejuvenate rubber and plastic components, and keep engine in top working condition, avoiding repairs and down time. I carefully followed the directions provided and let the additive work overnight. I mixed fresh, non-ethanol additive gasoline with a new 2-cycle fuel lubricant to give the saw the best chance at recovery. When I started the engine it again ran rough and would not saw through a 6-inch log without bogging down and coming to a stop. I returned this chainsaw to the repair center and bought a new one. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great! I was having problems with my Stihl string trimmer (my own fault, didn't store it properly over the winter), wouldn't start. I followed the directions and drained the tank, added 2oz of MIB and after priming it in and pulling the cord to run it into the fuel system the thing actually started up, I didn't even need to let it sit, just let it run a few minutes on what was left in the fuel line. Put in fresh premix and I was good to go. Fantastic stuff! June 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Honda EU3000is generator sputtering at high rpm Honda EU3000is generator sputtering at high rpm, researched solutions alternative to rebuilding carb. Found claims regarding performance of this product and thought, "What can it hurt to try?" I was very surprised, at first did not make much of a difference, but after following manufacture recommendations my EU is running like a dream, no sputtering at high, or low, rpm. This product actually works and is at least worth a test for $6 March 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works!!! My 2-stage snowblower wouldn't start. I added some Mechanic in a Bottle to the gas and got it running. Glad I found this product and saved a service call! March 28, 2016
