I see 4 pieces in the picture, Do you get all the Pieces in the photo ?

Asked by: brentwoodJon
Yes, but unfortunately, you'll probably need more of one piece or another and will need to buy more kits since the piece aren't sole separately.

Im trying to connect a faucet hose but the hose sizs are different. Could i use this quick connect kit to connect them together?

they're are both female ends so i would need a connector with a male and female end according to the sizes of the hose ends.
Asked by: peanuttslim06
If you mean that the size of the hose & faucet fittings are different, the answer is no. The fitting size on all of the connectors in the set are the standard US garden hose size.

I need to reconnect the male end spout to my garden hose so that I can attach a spray nozzle. Is this what I need?

Asked by: Netman
Yes, but only one of the two connector sets in the package will work for that purpose, given that the fittings on each set differ.

I need to connect multiple waterhoses together... is this what I need?
Asked by: kennyg
Your hoses should each have a female and male end. Your spigot is male. Attach the female end of hose 1 to it leaving the male end to attach to the female end of hose 2. That leaves the male end of hose 2 to attach to sprayers, sprinklers, (or another hose) etc. which have female receptacles.

You can not effectively use 1/2 of the parts. My intention was to make all of my connections universal, so I could connect anything I wanted in any configuration with the convenience of Quick cONNECT/ Disconnect... well, there is a gender problem... If you use all of these parts, you CAN NOT logically connect two devices together, well you can, but something like your hose needs to be turned around so that female end of the hose becomes the male end and vice versa... to make this work using all four parts. When you get it home, you will soon understand how you have been tricked. Reversing the hose direction is how to make it work.

First, you have to buy a kit. The individual pieces are not available ala carte so I had to buy two kits to get the number of male quick connects I need and I have many other pieces leftover. And I had to buy a male/male threaded nipple in plumbing for my feeder or I would have had to buy a third kit. Other stores sell the pieces in kits and ala carte. Second, the threaded ends need to be tightened very tight or they leak. Third, some of my equipment wont quick connect with the water on. Perhaps my pressure is too high but I'd expect the product to handle that. Everything else does.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from O-rings leak quickly Save your money and buy something like Gardena 36004 or Eley 1121 brass connectors. These cheap plastic things leak almost immediately because of the poor fit of the O-ring inside the adapter. If want dry hands when using these at your nozzles this is not the product for you. If you do not care about a constant leak on the ground then you can probably get by with these.

This is a weird review because I really like the product, but not this particular set. I live in Palm Springs California where the tap water has a high mineral content. The usual brass or mystery metal quick connects initially work fine on garden hoses and the like, but after a while crud builds up and the snap sleeves won't move anymore without using pliers, and the metal male and female fittings on the end of the connectors begin to fuse with the hose ends and faucets. You can soak them in muriatic acid solutions every once in a while, but that gets to be a pain and you start to degrade the surfaces. Regularly replacing them isn't practical due to their expense. The Melnor plastic quick connects offer a viable alternative. The lack of metal eliminates some of the dielectric buildup problem, and they are relatively cheap to replace outright if needed. Fixing them by installing a new o-ring isn't difficult or expensive. They aren't going to last forever, but in my harsh environment nothing lasts, and before they fail my wife will have a much easier time swapping out nozzles and sprayers. The problem is that this "starter package" contains two sets of male-female connectors but the fittings on the end of the connection sets differ. You have to look at the photo closely, but you'll see that the left set contains a male connector with a male fitting to go into the hand nozzle, and a female connector with a female fitting to go onto a garden hose. That's fine. The other set, however, has the same connector types, but the fittings are different (what was a male fitting on one is a female fitting on the other). There might be a useful application or two for this set up, but it means that you can't put both male connectors on two different nozzles or sprayers. Thus the interchangeability benefit (the sole reason for quick connects) is essentially gone. Bottom line: Buy this line of quick connects if you are looking for an inexpensive alternative to pricey metal connectors, but don't buy this particular starter kit. Only purchase the male connector\male fitting and female connector\female fitting versions if you want compatibility across all of your garden watering equipment. Shop around and you'll find what you are looking for at Home Depot and elsewhere. Nick in Palm Springs

Leakers - pay attention to the little things. Make sure your hose ends are round and not bent - many are. Clean hose ends. Clean the quick connect if they have been in use. EVERY year replace the washers in the hose. Tighten well when you apply. They will last years and the only thing that can break is the little washer on the male black piece. These too are replaceable.
