Customer Questions & Answers

Can you use regular refrigeration fittings to be crimped or do you have to buy special fittings for refrigeration.

How do you crimp smaller fittings such as 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" hvac copper fittings. Do you have jaws for these sizes.
Asked by: Richard
Fittings are not rated for refrigerant pipe. there is a different set of jaws that will be coming out for the sporlan zoomlock fittings that are available for refrigerant pipe. I'm not sure if the sporlan jaws are compatible with the milwaukee crimper yet

What is the difference between M12 and M18 pro press

Asked by: JH33
The M12 Press Tool is what tradesmen call a Mini ProPress gun. It will only crimp 1/2" - 1-1/4" Cu ProPress fittings. The tool itself is much smaller than the M18 tool which allows for working in tighter areas than the M18 which is why it can't handle larger fittings. Try pressing a water line in a plumbing chase or coil pack in a restricted area ceiling and you'll see the advantage to the smaller tool. The M18 Press tool is a full size ProPress tool and will handle 1/2" - 4" Cu ProPress fittings, 1/2" - 2" ViegaMega Press Black Iron Fittings, and 1/2" - 2" Grinnell Stainless Steel G-Press Fittings. The jaws for the fittings do not interchange. If you are installing Cu ProPress fittings, you need the Cu ProPress jaws. Same goes for the MegaPress & G-Press fittings. Uponor has their own line of PEX fittings and Milwaukee makes a tool for them as well. The jaws also don't interchange between the M12 and M18 also. So if you have both the M12 & M18, you need jaws for both the M12 & M18.

Home Depot even called me to verify the charge on my credit card since the charge was a little higher than a normal charge, which was a good sign. Arrived faster than they said, which was helpful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tool for plumbing service work. I recently purchased this tool. I haven't used it a whole lot yet. We already have a coupe Rigid press tools but I have several Milwaukee M12 tools and thought that this compact press tool would be handy to have. I know that I will always have a battery for it. It is truly a one handed tool. It's great for service where you want to get the job done quickly. I only wish there were PEX press jaws like the ones we have for the Rigid 200-B. This M12 press tool would be perfect for Viega PEX. The Milwaukee M18 press tool looks very appealing as well. I might have to invest in that one as well. I would like to see the prices come down a bit though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good compact press tool. The M12 Force Logic Press Tool also accepts Ridgid Compact Press Jaws and cycles fine when using them. This opens the use of the tool to more options as Tom the plumber stated. Also the M18 will take the Ridgid Standard Press Jaws.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money Maker At first I could hardly believe I spent this much money on a tool to join copper pipe that I have sweated for years for less than a dollar per joint. Now it is the only tool I use for installations in occupied homes of water heaters, angle stops, shower valves, and baseboard radiators. Besides the obvious danger of an open flame not nescessary with press fittings it is also not nescessary to drain all water from the existing lines as you would have to in order to sweat a joint. Press fittings also look substantialy more professional and inspire more confidence than sharkbite fittings commonly used now in similar situations and by homeowners. This also creates a selling point for the professional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from no more sweating copper i can literally complete a joint with this machine one handed and its amazing at the time savings im seeing on jobs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ended up returning it The inline design feature is nice the motor seemed to struggle doing 3/4 copper. I don't know if the one I got was defective but I would have to run it several times without the jaws for it to start working right.... I thought maybe it was to cold out but they claim an operating temperature of 10 degrees. For the money I paid I wasn't getting stuck with another tool made by Milwaukee that doesn't do what they claim it will. I was also told by the rep to do bronze fittings you need the bigger m12 batteries i was very disappointed
