Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 30 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Quality This is a really nice drill. It comes in a sturdy carrying case & with two batteries & a charger that will also work for Milwaukee M12 batteries, so if you have any products using those, you'll only need one charger for both tool sets. It packs plenty of power & feels good in your hand - it's really well balanced & there are some rubberized parts to help with shock absorption in the event of a fall. It weighs 3.8 lbs with the battery & has a slightly smaller profile than most drills of its caliber. It also has a bright & well-placed LED light that comes on whenever you pull the trigger. In regular daylight conditions, that's not really going to make a difference, but as someone who recently did some work in tight spaces behind the drywall, that feature was invaluable. The chuck is also really well designed & switching between bits is extremely simple. The battery life on this drill is good, but I wouldn't go so far as to say great. I tested it against that of a Rigid X4 Lithium-Ion drill - with both batteries fully charged, I clamped the triggers & ran the drills non-stop on the same speed & setting until their batteries ran out. The Milwaukee battery made it 18:11 while the Rigid battery lasted right at 24 minutes. That's a pretty considerable difference, but since it comes with two batteries & they charge in about 25 minutes (which is faster than the Rigid which takes 50-55 mins), this battery life should be more than sufficient for the average consumer. If you're undertaking a sizable/lengthy project, just be sure to have your spare on the charger. The battery does have a gauge that let's you know how much battery life is left, which is nice. Once it's really low, the last bar will flash to let you know you're running on vapor. The only other feature where I thought this drill could improve was to add a bit holder on the back. That's one of those things I never really thought about until I had a drill that had one & I've come to utilize it regularly - it's great when you're switching between bits to have a built-in holder so they don't end up lost in your pockets or mindlessly tossed on a desk somewhere that you'll immediately forget about. Again, by no means a huge deal, but something that would have been a nice bonus. All in all, a great product with an unbeatable warranty - hard to go wrong with this one! October 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Compact and powerful. Thoughtfully designed. I want to preface this review by stating that I own several Milwaukee corded and cordless power tools, and find them to be thoughtfully designed, extremely high-quality, powerful, and reliable. The M18 18V Li-Ion ½ drill/driver kit is no exception. This kit includes a 1/2-in. cordless drill driver, two - M18 18V lithium battery packs, a multi-volt charger station and a hard plastic lockable molded carrying case. At a little over 7” in length, this drill is fairly compact, allowing you to work in tight spaces. The keyless chuck firmly grasps the bit and doesn’t slip or come loose during periods of extended use, or when the drill is run in reverse, which is a problem I’ve experienced with a couple other brands of drills I’ve owned. The multi-volt charger station is capable of charging the included M18 batteries, but also has a separate plug-in to charge M12 batteries, which are used in other Milwaukee cordless tools I own, which makes this charging station very convenient by eliminating the need for multiple chargers to handle different batteries. Unlike a standard NiCad battery that gradually runs down until dead, lithium batteries will allow the tool to function properly until they abruptly die, resulting in a longer run time than NiCad powered tools. The battery is recharged in about 30 mins by removing the battery from the handle of the tool (depress the 2 button tabs and slide out) and inserting it in the charger station. Having two batteries means you can continue to work without a major interruption. Large indicator lights on the charging station go from red to indicate the battery is charging to green to indicate a full charge. Like all Milwaukee tools, this drill is thoughtfully manufactured with features such as a comfortable, ergonomic non-slip rubber grip, a handy LED light that operates by the trigger to illuminate your workspace, and a LED power indicator that’s integrated into the battery to show the amount of battery life remaining. At a little more than 2 lbs, this drill is relatively lightweight and feels balanced and comfortable in the hand. With 24-clutch positions, 2 torque settings, and a variable speed controlled trigger, this drill is very versatile. For me, 24-clutch positions is more than I’ll ever need or use for the type of light-carpentry work for which I generally use a drill, but for driving things like deck screws, the slower lower torque setting is ideal, giving you power as well as control so you don’t drive the screws too far into the decking boards. For making holes, pair this drill up with a high quality set of bits, select a high speed setting on the clutch and this drill will quickly plunge through whatever material you place in front of it. In the early-days of cordless tools, before the introduction of lithium-ion batteries, I was not such a fan of cordless tools, finding they lacked power with batteries that were short-lived and expensive to replace, so I continued to buy corded tools even though they required an extension cord and a power source, making them less convenient than cordless tools. Although the cost of replacement batteries is still high, over the years, there has been a lot of improvement with cordless tools and battery technology, so I no longer shy away from cordless tools and have come to prefer them over corded tools. None of the drills I own currently or have previously owned, including corded drills, have had the power to mix grout or thinset with a mixing paddle without bogging down and overheating, but this drill handled mixing of these materials beautifully. Impressive! The only negative that I found with this drill is the lack of a lock on the trigger, so you have to depress the trigger to keep the drill engaged. The drill also doesn't come with a side handle. Those two minor negatives aside, this Milwaukee M18 18V The M18 18V Li-Ion ½ drill/driver kit is a lot of tool for the money and I highly recommend it as a worthwhile addition to your tool box or workshop. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Better then any other drill at this price point I bought the same exact drill with only one battery and charger for $79.00. I had a Ryobi 18v Lithium which had plenty of power, but this Milwaukee model is not only smaller but has way more torque and driving power. I'm beyond pleasantly surprised with its capabilities. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0by good investment Whole crew is satisfied with this Milwaukee drill product. It is very handy, light weight, powerful, long lasting and effective. The important thing is a metal head on this drill machine which also allows you to open wide in case you want use larger and thicker diameter drill bits . February 13, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by How Milwaukee Has Fallen Bought this because I believed Milwaukee only put its' name on quality. After less than a year of woodworking and home DYI projects the gearbox stripped out. I was still within the warranty period (1 year) so I took it into a service dealer and had it repaired. Approximately 2 years later here I am with another stripped gearbox. Do yourself a favor and check out the price of replacement batteries. When this item is on sale at HD I've found I can buy a whole new drill, charger and new batteries for about $30 more than the batteries alone. February 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Powerful, good features, good battery This drill has been so much better than the other cordless drivers I've owned that I regret not having bought it sooner. First, it has both a lot of torque and a lot of stamina, which comes in helpful for drilling concrete and porcelain tile. The keyless chuck can be tightened easily to eliminate slippage. In my experience, the charger will recharge a battery in 30 minutes, which means I can use the drill continuously all day with the two batteries that come with the kit. The carrying case is very rugged, but you have to wrap up the cord with some care before putting the charger in, else the top will not close. Overall, probably the best power tool I have ever owned. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Power Due to the size, I was concerned with how much power this drill would have. I had no cause for concern. This baby will twist your hand if you aren't holding it tightly. It boasts 500inlbs of torque which is fairly good for a drill. Dewalt wouldn't advertise their inlbs rating on a drill of similar size. The only drawback is battery life. With constant use, the battery is only good for about 2hrs max. However, the batteries charge fast, so if you have one on the charger, no big deal. It comes with two batteries, case and charger. Don't go cheap. Get this drill. The keyless chuck is awesome, and the 20sec delay on the LED light works well in dark recesses. April 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent! High torque, ease of changing bits, a bit heavy but well balanced and feels comfortable with use. April 7, 2015
