What soil do you recommend for a raised garden bed?

16'x 4'x 2' full sun for vegetables. Virgin bed. First 12" of depth are overturned sod
Asked by: Greg
A good soil for you to use in your Raised Bed would be Miracle-Gro Nature's Care Raised Bed Soil with Water Conserve. Just keep in mind that you will need to fill the bed half full with Scotts Topsoil then mix Miracle-Gro Nature's Care Raised Bed Soil with Water Conserve into the top 3 inches of your soil. If you have any questions or would like further assistance, please contact us at 877-220-3089 and one of our representatives would be glad to assist you.

Why are the measurements of the contents in spanish and not in English?

I'd like to know the amount in weight.. not in cu ft.. can't tell as it is not in English.. very annoying.
Asked by: 1010
The term cubic foot is an Imperial and US customary (non-metric) unit of volume. It is not a unit of weight. The bags are measured in volume so that it is easier to estimate the amount of bags required to cover an area at a particular depth. For instance, four 1 cubic foot bags of soil will cover a 24 square foot area to the depth of 2 inches deep; while it would take 6 bags to cover the same area at a depth of 3 inches deep.

1 cu. ft. Garden Soil for Flowers and Vegetables is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 381.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too much garbage in the soil I purchased 15 bags of this soil for my garden. When I opened them up and started sifting through I notice several pieces of rock, plastic, hard plastic sticks, etc. I don't understand why these items are in this soil. Very disappointing and a poor quality product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This year Got my outdoor garden started used miracle grow like always. But this year it was different, not much fertilizer at all and it almost look like compost. Not like soil as always,it was stringy. My tomatoes seem good so far so maybe it's ok we'll see.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from THIS PRODUCT IS GARBAGE LITERALLY I bought this garden soil thinking it was one of the best. How wrong I was. I just opend a newly bag and as I was braking up the soil I found that the soil contained more the soil. I found rocks, and a lot of them. Then I found pieces if plastic bag. Not the same bag it cimes in. Then there was hard plastic and foam rubber and wire and stirofoam and to top it off a nail. I thought I was getting good clean soil not a garbage pile. I DO NOT AND WILL NOT recommend it product to anyone.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Miracle-Gro is a bag of tricks. Bought 10 bags of Miracle-Gro Flowers & Vegetables Garden Soil. Used 5 for the wife's raised garden and used some for two separate flower plots. Last year we had tomatoes and other plants grow that we didn't plant. This year we have massive growth of we don't know what yet, nothing has bloomed yet. Not sure what to do with the remaining 5 bags.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed in the new soil I'm an avid gardener and was disappointed in the new all purpose soil. 1st off the new bag (.75 cu ft.) has 25% less then the old bags (1 cu ft.), for the same price. 2nd disappointed in the quality, I always purchased the flower and vegetable soil for all my in ground planting, and the new all purpose does not have the same texture and composition that the old flower & vegetable soil had. Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is not such a good product I bought your brand because i thought it would be good to use but after using 2 bags i realized it wasnt. The 1st bag was more mulch than soil so i tried a 2nd bag for benefit of maybe a mix up at your plant but 2nd bag was also more mulch then soil so i will no longer use this product or reccomend it to anyone else.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not happy with the results We bought 6 bags and planted our tomatoes in it, within 7 days all but 4 were dead. I smelled a strong odor of some kind of chemical. Very disappointed as I wait for my tomatoes every year. We will not purchase it again
