Answer:
Yes it will be fine for roses and hibiscus. Be careful of the gardenia, though. They prefer an "acid" soil. I am fairly sure there is a potting mix specifically for acid-loving plants .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gant infest soil Bought this from chain hardware store. To transplant several indoor plants. I started getting little flies. Aftry to dry out the soil, uesed insect spray and even soap bubbles. I went out & purchased 2 more bags repanted the plants out doors after watering left outside to dry a little brought them inside and have watered in over a week, just added a little water the gnats are back. I have always use Miracle Gro for all my indoor planter before with no problems, however the last purchased (4 bags 8 qt size) I have GNATS problem. Now my house and planters are full of Gnats.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from GNATS !!! Repotted 2 indoor plants with this mix and now I have gnats swarming from the potting mix. What a waste of time and money. Now I have to either treat them with a pesticide or repot them in a DIFFERENT mix. Don’t know if it matters but I live in New Jersey so maybe it’s a local manufacturing plant problem. The balance of the mix is going outdoors in the flower beds. First time I had any problem with a Miracle Grow item. Luckily the were out in the sun room so no bugs in the house.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flying gnat's and white larvae under leaves I used miracle grow soil to transplant some viola's that I had started from seeds ,when I started the seeds I used miracle grow seed starting mix and I had a bunch of spider mites, the soil was just crawling with tons of small spiders. When I transplanted them to bigger pots I got miracle grow potting soil and a bag of African violets mix and that was full of mold when I opened the bag ,I took that back and used the potting soil ,so now I have hundreds of small gnat's flying around and thousands of small white spots under the leaves.they are larvae and small hatched ones. After reading up on this I find out that all of the white spots under the leaves are feeding on the leaves, they suck the fluid out of the plant and kill it!! So after all of that hard work all of the plants are dead and I'm still dealing with all of these bugs!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good for houseplants I had high hopes for this soil and am very disappointed. Used in some of my indoor plants that needed to be repotted. The soil does not allow for adequate drying between watering and holds onto too much moisture. I got a terrible infestation of fungus gnats in all the pots and had to repot again in different soil. I'm very plant savvy and have never had this problem before. Wouldn't recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst product ever!! PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I have trusted Miracle Gro for years to repot and pot house plants. I recently purchased 4 large bags of this product to replant 20 or so house plants. Can I say after 20 years of growing house plants that I have never seen such a horrible product. What happen to the Miracle Gro that I knew and trusted? 4 days after repotting I noticed mold on ever plant I repotted. Mold? I have never had mold on any potting soil ever! A couple of days later I noticed gnats everywhere in my home. I have owned some of these plants over 10 years and now after trying sand and everything else to get rid of these gnats and mold I am forced to throw out my plants. On top of that out of all of my plants only 2 made it, the rest started to die and lose leafs after the repotting. I can not tell you how disgusted I am with Miracle Gro and will never trust their product or any Scotts product for that matter. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Infested with bugs I bought a bag of this recently for repotting of an indoor plant, and one week later it is infested with small black bugs (fungus gnats). I did not have this problem prior to adding this soil, and upon checking remaining soil in the bag, it is teeming with these bugs. Very frustrating, I hope it doesn't kill the plant. I will be returning the bag for a refund.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 8000000046 I would not recommend this product or any thing made by this company . I have used this potting soil before and when putting the plant inside it develops Nat bugs hatched inside the soil, The only reason that I picked some up is that Home Depot stopped caring Super Soil. And I was going to use this potting soil in pots outside. You could use this outside.
