Customer Questions & Answers

Do these accept a brighter bulb such as an 11 watt bulb?

Also, can you describe what type of connectors is supplied with the unit? I purchased some Malibu lights and the connectors were the two fork type and corroded easily. Also, the tabs that held the cap on broke on all the lights when trying to change the bulbs.
Asked by: Dave
Sure. stay away from the halogens though. A shame they use a wedge base instead of a bi-pin. Haven't found any wedge base lamps in LED> You have to change out the socket to accept the bi-pin but then using a LED lamp is well woth the effort.

What kind of wire is required

Asked by: mike
either 12/2 r 16/2 stranded LV direct burial wire. Depends on the length of the wire run from the transformer. I pull the wedge base socket and replace with a G-4 socket to accept a bi-pin lamp in LED either 4 or 5 watt. You have a choice in a bi-pin lamp with 12 or 24 tiny LEDs with a 360 degree beam spread. This might not be the standard method for all, but after 26 years of putting in LV lighting, it works for me.

how does the copper finish holdup

l live in Florida. I am concerned how the copper outer finish will hold up. Will it tarnish and turn green like copper often does? Does it need to be sprayed with a protective coating
Asked by: William
This is "to be determined". This is an anodized finish and will depend upon the quality of water that hits them, especially hard well water. I spray a coat of clear lacquer because it is gonna change the color of the finish over time.

Customer Reviews

Marion-Style Low-Voltage 7-Watt Copper 2-Tier Metal Outdoor Path Light is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light for a cheap price These lights are fairly sturdy, the parts all screw together firmly and don't feel like the wind will be able to pull off any pieces, and are fairly bright. The wire connection "box" is pretty straight forward to use and doesn't require any actual wiring. The box contains teeth that puncture your wire, which is easy enough, but if the wire curves at all when you're closing the box, you may have to redo the connection. 1 of the 17 I ordered had a fault and wouldn't light up no matter how many times I rewired It, but HD's return policy is pretty rock solid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lights Like these lights they give off just the right amount of light for the sidewalk, although they were not the easiest to hook up , did not care for the pin system that Pearce the wire, if not done right it they won't work, had to do several times, all in all they look great and shine nicely

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Outdoor lights I like the product for the price. When I was shopping on line with Home Depot, I thought I was purchasing LED type lights. Turns out they are not LED. They are 7 Watt low voltage. I'll keep them only because my low voltage controller can handle the extra wattage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Value These come with metal stakes and all metal construction for the best reliability and longevity. Since the stakes are solid metal, it was easy to pound them into the ground. The only problem I had was the clips to hook into the source wires were difficult to make metal-metal contact. On some of them, I just had to cut the wires and connect them with wire nuts instead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better generation We replaced the older version of these with these more durable ones. We are happier so far and they look great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good looking lights and hope they last a while. They took no time to put together and look very good for the place I put them. Lights could be a little brighter but they are fine the way they are. Just hope they last a while and if I need more they have the same ones. Hopefully they were not selling them at a good price cause they are no longer making them. That is why I bought an extra.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Qualty The connectors on all low voltage lights are extremely difficult to use. Easier to splice then cap or shrink tubing.
