Yes, Home Depot will make one cut and thread both ends free of charge. I believe more cuts are a small extra charge.

Answer:
I just went to a home depot today. The cutting and threading is free, but they'll charge for purchasing the pipe per foot, instead of the price for a 10 foot pipe. The price of pipe 3/4" x 10' was about $14. If you want the pipe cut and threaded, they charge over $4/foot. Go to Lowes. They don't charge you by the foot if you have them cut/thread the pipe.

Answer:
Yes, the store will cut it and rethread it for you upon request. Of course, you'll have to buy the whole 10 ft. length though.
My store made one cut and rethreaded the ends for free. They told me multiple cuts/threading would be an additional charge per cut.

Yes, the first cut and rethread is free at my local store. I believe they charge a minimal amount for each additional cut.

Answer:
No. You should use the Galvanized pipe for outdoor and underground use. You shouldn't try to coat it yourself, the Galvanized pipe is hot dipped and baked onto the metal therefore it will not rust.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by cutting and threading Needed pipe for pipe clamps. The first time I purchased the 10 foot pipe Home Depot cut the pipe into 4 sections and threaded at no additional charge. When I needed another one I was told the price for cutting the pipe increased the price per foot. The pipe original cost was 12.91 and was increased to to $4.50 per foot (That's $45 instead of $12.91 for three cuts and threads). Since I needed them for clamps I cut them in half with a hacksaw as I only need thread on one end. So, keep in mind you can still save considerably if you cut the 10 foot pipe but don't rely on home depot saving you any if you need more than 1 cut and the pipe threaded. I will also note this was the home depot in the Stroudsburg PA location. I couldn't tell you if other locations do not have this issue or not. I have read the recommendation to ask home depot to cut and thread this pipe as it's been done for others without charge as well. The product itself is what you'd expect so no issues there. There is no way to rate a service issue so it's been dropped one star. July 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for pipe clamps! This pipe is sturdy and low cost, the perfect companion for 3/4" pipe clamps! The store employee even cut it in half and threaded both ends for me free of charge. Just make sure you keep the wood surface you're clamping from contacting the black pipe, since it will leave marks. I usually just place some shims between my workpiece and the pipes to keep them separated. January 22, 2014
