Answer:
Jake, this and all Nicholson files are made of high quality carbon steel. This steel along with Nichlson's file cutting process give the file sharp uniformed teeth for even cutting and a long life.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good stuff Whenever you need a good file, look for Nicholson and you'll be OK. Maybe there are better, but there are surely worse. This name has always worked. April 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good file These are good files and I recommend them for everyday use. I would like to see them just a bit flatter. I use them in engineering processes on stainless. All files except for expensive ones have a slight arc in them due to the tempering process. That arc can prevent you from using one side of the file. However at this day and time I believe the technology and processes are there to produce a flatter file for everyday use. December 8, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good little tool. Good little tool. Excellent for sharpening. I would recommend this tool. March 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wow! What a difference! I bought an ax from Home Depot. It was VERY DULL! The salesman told me to use this file to sharpen it and then do a final honing with a round ax stone. What a difference! If you buy an ax, be sure to use one of these and a round ax stone to make your ax really sharp. (I bought the stone on line as Home Depot did not carry them. I suggest that they carry stones in the future and place them in the ax section of the store with a display of these files.) August 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by File This is a great file for a low price. I had some metal shower trim I had to install that needed to be rounded to fit my shower contour. I used a flat b****** file to shape the profile, and this file to smooth it out. Make sure you don't forget to buy the handle for it too! July 30, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fits the need... Was looking for simple mill file to keep edger sharp. There were 4 options on shelf, I picked the most reasonably priced (aka the cheapest). This does the job very well, as it's designed to do. July 22, 2014
