Full-Size 1.6 cu. ft. 1250 Watt Microwave in Stainless Steel is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great while in operation, very poor durability This is the third Panasonic microwave oven we've owned over the past four years. The first failed very quickly with a broken door latch mechanism. It was replaced by our local appliance dealer under warranty. The second failed almost a month to the day after the warranty expired. Reason: broken door latch mechanism. Our dealer provided us this new Inverter equipped Panasonic. It lasted the longest - approximately 2 years - until, you guessed it, the door latch mechanism broke. We have quite a few Panasonic products in our home including a 55" Plasma TV. We will no longer purchase Panasonic microwave ovens until they eliminate the frail push-button door latch mechanism.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Want to like it but... We're on our third Panasonic microwave in 5 years. It appears to be the failure of the same door interlock switch every time. Knowing this we are intentionally careful not to slam the door and in fact leave it slightly ajar after use. Yes, we're suckers. But we really like other Panasonic stuff and the spinner input knob on this and other Panasonic microwaves. We keep hoping they've finally re-engineered that switch! One feature we're not a fan of - the display is not very readable unless it is at or near your eye level. Another secret to microwave durability we've learned the hard way: always plug them into surge protectors.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Had one for about a year and a half (go figure), now, like other review comments, the door switch won't allow it to run unless you slam the door. I've either got to pay a hefty price to get it repaired or junk it. I've always been happy with Panasonic stuff before, but feel I got a built-in service bill on this unit! Planned obsolescence? These should be recalled and fixed!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a good microwave thus far I've waited nearly 5 months to post this review, so that I could have time to see how well it performs, any problems, etc. Overall, the pros of this microwave are as follows: the power level feature that I use frequently works like a charm (the unique technology of reducing heat by percentage that really reduces the power rather than just going from full to zero during power level selection); the knob vrs. buttons for setting time is cool and faster to use; it is sleek in appearance; made popcorn once not using the "popcorn" button (forgot it had it) and it came out fine with lots of "dead soldiers", meaning half open kernels, which I like to eat; it is very powerful; easy to clean, nice compact size but holds larger dishes; Some of the cons: The sensor reheat function works but it tends to make food too hot so take it out early; have not used many of its bells and whistles, such as sensor cook and keep warm functions; turbo defrost cooked the edges of a steak so go shorter than suggested. Conclusion: very happy with it and no major complaints and would recommend to buy at this stage in ownership.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bitten by the Door Latch Issue Sadly, our NN-SD797S Panasonic microwave is dead-by-door switch. We've had it less than 2 years now and clearly many here have the same issue with this model. Normally I'd make a change but we did the built in kit and it was more expensive than the microwave itself. :( Now the hard choice... buy another and know it's a throw away or bite the bullet and go to a different brand/model and have to do the built in kit for it. No good choices it seems.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed Our microwave Panasonic Inverter Prestige lasted about 2.5 yrs. Our previous Panasonic lasted almost 23 yrs. That's why we wanted to buy Panasonic again. No more! Our microwave burned/melted inside. The glass carousel shattered. Whatever white material is used to line the oven is inferior.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Like apparently every other consumer who trusted the Panasonic brand, I have a broken door latch and a non functioning microwave after a few short years. Hoping Panasonic will offer to remedy its design shortcomings. No one budgets for having to replace a basic core kitchen appliance which has had light use every 4 years....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my new microwave I've been using it for several weeks now and I love it. It is the best I've had and is so pretty. I wish it came in finishes other than stainless steel as finger and hand prints show up whenever it is touched, but this is nothing compared to the pluses. I highly recommend it.
