But to answer your question: yes, anything can be painted if you first apply the right primer. What you're looking for is called Rustoleum Etching Primer. Wipe the box with a lint-free rag soaked in rubbing alcohol. Allow to dry. Spray the wall box and trim pieces with etching primer outdoors and allow them to dry out of the sun (about 30 - 60 min). If you're painting it with latex wall paint, apply a LIGHT coat of latex-based primer over the etching primer & allow to dry. With a small brush or small air gun, apply wall paint of your choice. Apply a second coat if necessary. Allow to dry for 24 hours before attempting to handle/ install into wall. Do not paint it while it's in the wall.
Final thoughts: if you mount a recessed media box in a guest / child's bedroom and are not presently using it, cover it with a framed photo, but do not uninstall... it adds resale value to your house. Read Less

Thank you for your question regarding Pass & Seymour 3-Gang Recessed Wall Box(Model # TV3LVKITWCC2).
The material the TV box is made of is not designed to hold paint, so we would not recommend painting it as we could not provide details on how it would hold up against chipping/peeling.

Answer:
I didn't measure it before I installed it but it was a 2x4 stud wall, and there was about 1-1/2 to 2" before hitting the back of the other wall. You can't use the box that comes with it in the back slot. I used the low voltage adapters in the back and one side opening.

Answer:
Good Morning,
Part number for the brush insert is WP1014WH. This may have to be ordered separately since not many stores carry this piece in stock. It can be ordered at ant Home Depot by going to the special order desk in the store.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Makes A/V Installation easier Installed A/V in an existing wall. Box installation and instructions were easy and fast. Designed for existing wall installation without the need for nails/screws. Due to the depth of the box into a typical 2x4 wall, items with thicker cables (power, large A/V or cables that can't be bent tight) need to be ruin thru the 2 side boxes, not the center. Quality box at an affordable price. Starting to notice a little bit of bowing of the top & bottom trim pieces (see picture) as time goes on. These trim pieces snap in place. Since this is behind a wall mounted TV (generally) this little bit of trim bowing is not an issue for me. October 5, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Do-All box With one simple hole cut in the wall, you have very easy access to run your wires, and it is a sell contained box! September 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Recessed Wall Box This is a great product. I had 3 phone lines tacked on to the baseboard in those small square boxes that used to be common. There was also a cable and Ethernet inport. It was a real mess. Now all of this comes out through this wall box. The installation is fairly straightforward and most anyone can do it. I definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to clean up their incoming lines. May 26, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Made it work for my need I was in need of a triplex low voltage "box" for speakers wires that I have coming from all rooms and porches on my home. They did have a duplex low voltage "box", but no triplex. So, I bought this product in stead as it had the needed three openings. I did not want or need the electrical box connection, but since Home Depot does not offer a triplex option on the all low voltage side, I modified this product and made it work. A major competitor did have the triplex low voltage box that I was wanting, but not at my local store and did not want to drive to nearest location that had them in stock. Something for Home Depot to consider, there is a need for the triplex low voltage box. August 26, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by does the job This box is fairly well built, the only thing I didn't like was how the tabs bent VERY easily. If you do more than snug it up they will bend and the box wont sit right. If you use a drill to tighten them set it on the lowest amount of torque possible. It also comes with an "old work" type of electrical box that was not used in by install for anything but the tabs to replace the ones i bent. It also only has 4 of the slide in holders to allow for accessory plates (HDMI, RCA jacks, etc) and you need those holders to attach the plates. I ended up using a low voltage box and modifying it to work. Might be easier to just use a low voltage gangbox to do the install - cheaper too December 18, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great item. This was just what I was looking for, easy to install, and looks great. March 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for the application I needed it for. I was installing a wall mounted TV that had extra corded components. This box allowed me to have two receptacles rather than one. February 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Purchase for Wall Mounted TV's Easy to install and pleasing to the eye. Best application I think is for Wall Mounted TV's. All the cords in one outlet. I used it for my sons TV and had his computer, game console, DirectTV and power all ran through the same wall box. Had to modify the covers that I bought for the outlets as they were a little too wide. Everything was home run to his closet, so no wires exposed and no clutter of the boxes. Highly recommend!
