Customer Questions & Answers

Do these boxes have drainage holes?

Asked by: Randy
Yes. They have two large holes that need to be punched out. In this picture they are punched out and I removed one of the lips. The lip usually goes all the way around.

Customer Reviews

Plastic Liner for 30 in. Window Box is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for liner or flower box. Until this review, I didn't realize these were only liners and not a full fledged window box. I used mine for a windows box so the review and pictures will be for that. The plastic is fairly thick and strong. I had to cut one of the ridges off to get it to attach to the house. After that it went up with no problem and the plastic held well in a stress test I did with a 45lb weight. I drilled small drainage holes in the bottom so it didn't fill up with water. The one problem with this liner is the label on the side of the box. I couldn't get it off. I ended up using a sander and ground it down to almost nothing(see picture above). I'm hoping time will make the rest peal off. It's the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good container for indoor window sill I got two of these and put a couple of bags of the Mosser Lee river rocks in the bottom of each one. After potting up a bunch of orchids and watering everything, I noticed my window sills were wet. The knock-outs in the bottom of each box had pin hole leaks. So, if you use these without trays the pin holes need to be sealed with something. I used silicone tub and tile caulk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low cost and makes a great liner for a non-solid decorative window box I purchased expensive metal window boxes with a fancy scrolled design. They would not hold soil and flowers because of the design and needed a solid inside liner. I purchased these inexpensive boxes from Lowes to hold real ivy and real or faux flowers, depending on the season, inside the scrolled boxes. They are a little bit shallow so I will have to see if the ivy survives the winter. If, not, the boxes could be emptied for the winter and would still look nice. I found the Lowes boxes too shallow in height for my fancy outer window box, so I purchased more of the Lowes boxes, turned them upside down and rested the filled boxes on top - worked perfectly - the perfect height to reach the top of the outer scrolled window boxes.
