They will work in a T12 fixture but you will have to change the ballast. Call Phillips Lighting and they will send you a list of Certified ballasts for this Tube.

Only after you switch out the ballast to a compatible, T8, instant start model. Philips has a guide: http://images.philips.com/is/content/PhilipsConsumer/PDFDownloads/United%20States/ODLI20150907_001-UPD-en_US-LED-lamps-instant_fit-ballast-compatibility-guide.pdf

4 ft. T8 17-Watt Cool White Linear LED Light Bulb (10-Pack) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Philips InstantFit T-8 4' LED Bulbs Unlike the name implies, these InstantFit bulbs did not work in any of the fixtures in my house. There are two requirements that were not clearly explained on the box or in the add. Although the box says they will work with 85% of all ballasts, the 4 fixtures that I tried them with did not work. You must have instant on, electronic ballasts, and the "Tombstones" must be shunted (jumpered). 3 of my fixtures had magnetic ballasts and the 4th was a cheap shop light. Since I was determined to go to LEDs, I purchased replacement ballasts that met the requirement and completely rewired my fixtures, and I'm glad I did. My rooms are now much brighter and the lights are instant on, no flickering, etc. I liked them so much, I ordered a 2nd case (10 bulbs) and plan to retrofit several more fixtures in my garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super led lights Had the old t-12 shop lights in my large garage, decided to change out to the newer t-8 fixture and bought these new led bulbs. Saw them at the store and they were much brighter than the fluorescent. Got everything home and changed out the fixtures to the new ones, put in the new led bulbs and man what a difference. These new lights were so much brighter than the old ones it's incredible. I see some people are saying they don't like them or they don't work, something they are doing is not right, if you have the right fixture these bulbs are a great white bright light they put out, I even had people come over and stand in the garage and look up to comment on how bright these lights are and how bright it looks in the garage. would never ever go back to the old fluorescent bulbs again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought 200! Their bright and as I started buying more of these the price dropped nearly in half. I ended up replacing all the bulbs in my commercial building with these LEDS as opposed to spending 50k on a solar system. Replacing my 32W fluorescents with these 17w LEDS should save me thousands over the life of the building as long as the bulbs last as long as they claim. I might end up buying 200 more for another one of our buildings there so efficient, bright, and compatible with legacy ballast!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4 ft. T8 17-Watt Cool White Linear LED Light Bulb (10-Pack) The LED lights were nice and bright! Installation was easy as they worked with most of my florescent light fixtures in the shop. However, there was one fixture that they would not work in so I had to re-install the old florescent tubes in that fixture. The shipping box was damaged at one end, but the bulbs were OK.

Good light and no defects, other than a few broken ones during the shipping. I've upgraded the lights in my showroom, office, driveway and the shop during the last few months and am happy with the results. My usage is slowly drooping as I do each area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't wait for the next power bill Relamped my shop with 40 of these. Good bright light easy swap. Had 1 weak ballast changed it out and that fixture works perfect. Took light readings with a light meter before and after shows quite a difference.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bright bulbs, but order more than you need... Been researching for a long time. Bright bulbs. 17W. 4000K. Not nearly the life as the 14W equivalent, but 1/3 the price and with rebates from local power company it costs less than long Life fluorescents. When replacing bulb, watch as some of your older ballasts, though compatible, may still need replacing. I had an issue with trying to order a large quantity from Home Depot. Was re-lamping my store ( ~ 600 bulbs) . Had to do a real convoluted ordering process, plus they cancelled my order and I had to call to get it re-ordered. Pro-Contract price was higher than instore/online- thus ordered on-line. 10% of bulbs arrived Broken ( Pin ends were destroyed... looks like a pallet jack issue, several of bulbs broke in cases ). Called local HD who said, bring the bad bulbs back and we'll replace. Had a dozen people already comment on how nice the light was, and how bright the store appears.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from They don't seem to work. Will try them in another fixture. If they still don't work, will return them to local store.
