Answer:
USING the formula for power: P = VI, where V=voltage and I=current
you gave I = 9 amps
using 110/120 Volt power, the maximum wattage would be P = (120)(9) = 180 Watts
This convertor specs indicate that it is a 400 watt power inverter so your 9amp chain saw should work on it with wattage to spare.

Answer:
No, at 5 amps you are running 600 watts. With startup surge you are probably closer to 1200 watts. This unit has a continuous power of 400 watts. With the startup surge we would recommend buying the PW1500-12.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase I keep my inverter in the boat so I can use my electric fish fillet knife no matter where I am! I can also hook up a CD player and fillet fish anywhere! August 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Instant Return I needed something that I could plug into my cigarette lighter. That wasn't happening with this one. August 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent inverter Inverter unit is compact in size. Outlet ports easily accessible on top. Quiet operation. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Portable , DC-->AC power powered some leg squeezing equipment on a long , seven hour trip ! ... Worked great ! June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Power Inverter This power inverter is perfect for our use. We have burned up 4 smaller ones in our quest to be able to work while traveling on the road. This one is quiet and runs my laptop, wifi hotspot and charges my phone at the same time. Best of all, it doesn't overload the charge port in my car. April 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by be careful I used this product the day I picked it up for 5 mins the second time I used it, it ran for less than a minute and heard a clicking sound then it stopped working. I misplaced the receipt and was told by customer service nothing could be done without receipt will not purchase electrical items from Home Depot.com again February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very handy inverter This inverter feels well made and has performed great. It has a cord with alligator clips to attach directly to battery posts and a cord with ring terminal connectors. It has powered my 1.5 amp flush cut saw and a 1.5 amp water pump which I use in my camper. The fan comes on frequently to cool down the electronics. It's smallness compact which is nice. I will need a more powerful inverter eventually but for small needs I would definitely buy this again. September 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simple to use and works as stated I purchased this inverter to use on a camping trip to power my laptop. I did not end up using it while on my trip as they had electrical outlets on the premises, but did test it out at home to power a fan and it worked as stated. It is simple to use (I've never used an inverter before but was able to 'plug and play' with no problem) and seems to perform as stated. The price was outstanding as well. When compared to the in-store prices of other inverters at Home Depot, or anywhere else that I found in town for that matter, it was about half the price of single outlet inverters, so worth the wait for shipping. Once I have had a chance to use it more extensively I will update this review, but so far, I am happy with it and it seems to be just as the description states. July 2, 2012
