Since the push bar extends beyond the vinyl moulding, it doesn't interfere with the removal/insert of the screen or storm window. After removing the vinyl moulding, if the push bar is mounted with double-sides tape, rather than pull the screen and storm window straight out, you'd need to lift the screen or storm window up to clear the push bars. If you mount the push bar with the provided screws, you could remove the bar and reinstall it. Read Less

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry regarding this item from Prime-Line Products. While it may be physically possible to paint them, we would advise against it because they are constructed of plastic brackets and vinyl bar sleeves which do not take to paint too well.

The plastic ends have broken and I only need the plastic ends and not the bar. Do they sell the plastic ends separately?

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 21 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice addition to safe-proof the screen on our new screen door. Very good quality and easy to install. October 25, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor execution and overpriced. The bars are a bit to big to fit into the end caps. When pushing them in place per the instructions one of the end caps split in two places. I am sure the cracks will grow with time. To expensive for something that fits so poorly. Clearly as super HIGH margin item. You would expect this part to cost 8.00 based on it's construction. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by screen door protection Bars enable us to keep people from pressing on the screen when opening the heavy door. December 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Push bars are the finishing touch Installed two sets of these bars on vinyl screen doors that can see some heavy use. Recently installed new screening on the doors and decided these bars would help preserve the integrity of the screens so that the damage sustained to the previous ones wouldn't be repeated so soon. So far, so good. The bars also provided some additional stability. Didn't realize it at first that the bars are vinyl tubes with metal inserts. Helpful for pushing the door open via the "elbow method" as well as having something to grab to quickly close it as well. August 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Screen door push bar Easy to install and loos good on the door. Should be a product that is available in store October 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Push bar for screen door. The Push Bar is well-designed for its purpose, is as it was described. It arrived on time, and I had no need to speak with anyone about it. August 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best thing I ever ordered without seeing it first I was expecting it to not be what I needed but they both worked perfect on my new screen doors. I wish they had stocked them at the store so everybody could see that they needed them. Works great and now the screen never gets pushed out. Great product and perfect for any vinyl screen door. A must have for all vinyl doors from Home Depot. The online buying process was easy and they showed up way faster than I had expected. I am very pleased. September 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Adequate but not sturdy Needed a push bar on my porch aluminum screen/louvered glass door to stop traffic from pushing on the door frame or the screen.when exiting. This product was all that was available at HomDepot.com, and it was not available at my local store. This item should have been in stock. There isn't much to this product--two plastic brackets supporting two vinyl clad metal tubes. Easy to install but you really can't bang into the bars for fear of bending them. The bars should be bigger, thicker and more sturdy. November 5, 2013
