Can it be used in cold weather?

The temperature drops to around or a bit below freezing at night, but is above freezing during the day. I want to put in some fence posts.
Asked by: JanLaw
I have used this produce in the same type of weather to make support blocks 16x24x8 above ground--But I protected it from freezing overnight with the use of insulation blankets. No harm seemed to be done to the blocks--but you are taking a chance.--If it freezes before it cures and the moisture is out it will crack.

The in store pick-up was less than impressive... I waited 1 1/2 hours to get 2 pallets of concrete loaded. Customers can't afford to waste 20 to 25 percent of their day. to pick up supplies!

I bought 68 bags to use as a flag pole base. i did not fully trust the claims of " Just pour water on top and let it sink in" so i tested it. I cut the top off a clear 5 gallon water bottle and poured a half a bag in, poured the required water on top and let it alone. the water could be seen creeping down and through the concrete mix. In about 15 minutes it was mostly saturated. I added the second half of the bag on top and poured the required water on top to test the joint between the two. Same result, full saturation in about 15 minutes. After a few days of sitting i unwrapped the plastic bottle from around the concrete, picked up the block and dropped it, hit it with a hammer, could not break the block at the joint. Very impressive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worksaver - sets hard without mixing, just pour concrete in the hole and add water, holds my post strong This concrete saves the time and effort of mixing. Just pour the concrete in the hole and spray on some water. Sets very fast and provides a strong hold for my post. It is only a 50 pound bag, so you are paying for convenience but very worth it if you are installing just 1 or 2 posts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to use! Excellent! Used the estimator for how many bags I would need for the small project - way off - only needed 1 bag and the estimator gave me 6 to purchase; so I had to return 5.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well but always mix prior to pouring Never pour in dry and add water afterwards, always a possibility it will not penetrate all material and set properly, buy a spade and cement tub for a few dollars and mix the cement before pouring and do not wait to long, it starts to harden fast. Again, make sure to mix before use, directions say you can pour in dry and add water but save yourself a possible headache and mix prior before use. Otherwise product works fine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well I have used this product before and it worked just as well this time. I'm a small woman so the difference between a 50lb bag and 80lb bag makes a difference. Also I don't have to premix which also takes a lot of physical strength. I do pour it in the hole pour in the right amount of water and use a piece of rebar to make sure the water mixes well with the concrete mix all through. I put up a chain link fence oh maybe 10 years ago. No sign of any cracks all standing well. Doing better than the concrete where the fence builder I paid to put up the privacy fence put in his post holes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Turned my weekend project into a one day project.......awsome Used this to set in 4x4 pressure treated wood that were to be used as fence posts. I love the stuff. Now I dont put up a lot of fences, nor do I use a lot of concrete, but this stuff was easy to use and worked very well for my application. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because 2 out of the four bags has some concrete in them that was unusable. Like it had gotten wet and some of the concrete in the bag was solidified already. Other than that. The stuff dries fairly fast and holds strong. Made a weekend project into a one day project which is great in my book. Steak in the 4x4 so that they remain straight. Pour dry mix into the whole then pour in enough water to penetrate all of the concrete and wallah move on. Its great. No need for premixing unless that is just what you want to do.
