Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BillyBobWindrow Works great with drill; cable shows rust rot
All of these drain snake products suffer from kinking due to twist imparted when using. This accepts ordinary power drill (used my 9.6 v); trick is to snake into drain (below trap if you can) and butt pistol grip w/in 1/2" of opening. That limits the cable 'flap' within the pipe, cutting down kinking. Once that was worked out, worked like a charmer. The drill's tip-coil will pull the snake right along. I push as much cable as I can by hand first, trying to find the block, pull a foot or so back if I do, then give it a spin to 'bite' into the 'wall.' Faster revs gets more 'pull' with trigger engaged, but don't over rev. Gitz er done.
Only drawback is mine showed some rust spotting after first use even though I put away rinsed & sun dry. Maybe some wet still in drum? At any rate on second use rinsed, sun dried; then (my son's idea) used old sock as mitt, put dab white lith grease in palm, and wiped down (re-dabbing as needed) as I recoiled snake into drum. That should inhibit rust and add some slick moves next time out.
4 stars because although snake appears stainless, rust a maintenance issue.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Verified Reviewer Works well, just get something to fix it when it breaks
Ok, the actual powerspin is great...I used a manual RIGID auger that is EXACTLY like this, but it just has no adapter for a drill, so I was having to hand feed it, reel it, hand feed it, reel it, etc and it took about 15 minutes to drive the auger all 25 feet. It worked, but it was sweaty, awkward and painful.
This POWERSPIN works extremely well. You don't need a $169 auger unless you do this for a living. You just clamp the "clutch" to engage it and it drives the auger down into the pipe. Reverse your drill, clamp the handle (clutch) and it reels it back in quickly and easily. NOTE/CAUTION: When you reel it into the pipe the first time, there is no warning that you are at the end of the line. The way the auger is secured inside the drum is very weak and it snapped off. I had to get a mini-screw clamp (like you use to clamp a hose on a pipe), drill two slots and clamp the auger end down to the drum inside...a pain, but it works like a champ now. RIGID---for your quality, please secure the auger end with something other than a screw and washer connected to plastic or make a white mark on the auger showing when you have reached the end of the line. This is the hose clamp you should get when you buy this in the store if you don't have spares at home: Everbilt Model # 6260294 Internet # 202309384 SKU # 100561 5/8 in. Stainless-Steel Clamp. Just drill a slot where the mounting screw used to be, then another inside the drum and clamp the auger end through it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Howner Very good product
Very good product, works as expected. Make sure you have bought the model which allows you to attach a drill machine instead of a manual lever. Its a pain to keep turning the lever for longer paths with entire weight on one hand.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lavrentiy Good For Only Hair Blockage
The manual handle kept coming off...I wasn't accidentally pushing the tabs. So I connected a hand drill. I did break through some slightly encrusted blockage. The farther down the drain, though, the cable started to twist *inside the drum*. Then outside cable started to bend/kink. I wasn't at high rpm nor going through IMHO really tough material. Seems that cable was kinking too fast for going through IMHO minor blockage and I wasn't forcing the issue.. This auger might be good to hair blockage and grease only.

The product works great until the plastic piece that connects the cable to the crank breaks. It happened to me the third time I used it. Why put a plastic connector between two pieces of metal? Planned obsolescence! It works great until it doesn't.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by shelmarcel Worked great! Cleared an outside sewer line.
Originally bought a manual spin drain auger (also from HD, retails for <$20) to try to unclog the sewer line that leaves the house. After a couple hours of effort, with very limited results, I gave up on that product & purchased this. The `power spin' (with the help of a drill) made all the difference...I pulled all kinds of nasty (incl. tree roots) out of my line. Successfully unclogged after a number of attempts. Couldn't have been easier, though you still need a bit of patience to get the job done.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by melissa Worked out great and saved me $500!!!
I had a fully clogged kitchen sink and a slow bathroom sink. Was quoted over $500 for both and told the plumber for that I can buy my own power snake. Thought I would have to spend $200 for a tool to handle the job until I found this. It worked great and I will be ready for any future drain issues. I definitely recommend it!
