PVC Pipes

Does it work on PVC pipes?
Asked by: SGDIY
Yes, but you have to cut slower as the cutter bites into the soft PVC wall real easily.

104 Tubing Cutter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 110.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT product - easy to use and fast Used this pipe cutter to repair a half-inch copper pipe in my basement that had sprung a leak. I'm extremely pleased with it. It costs less in the store than online, it was easy to use (fairly self-explanatory), works incredibly well (fast, minimal effort, clean cut), and is very small so it fits in tight places. I'd definitely recommend it if you need to cut smaller-diameter copper pipes. The only real downside is it won't cut polymer PEX pipe (clamping this closed causes the PEX to compress and the blade won't bite), but I have other scissor-type cutters that did that easily.

I bought this, after borrowing a similar model for several projects, to cut the end of a tub stem off while remodeling a bathroom. The pipe was heavily corroded on the exterior and this cut through the pipe just fine. I think I just need to play with it more, as I didn't feel this was the smoothest operating tool I have ever used. It could have been the pipe corrosion or it could have been the tool. I need to use it more to determine. It does what I needed it to do and in a tight space.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheap This is a lousy tool. It's very slow to use. I was not able to get in some places with it. The piece that you turn to tighten it is course threaded and difficult to operate in the tight spaces I was in. I had to use my Sawzall several times then cut off 1/4" more to get rid of the jagged edges the Sawzall left.

I needed to install shutoff valves in two 3/4" copper water lines, but they are only1-1/8" apart. The Rigid 104 Tubing Cutter did the job with no problem. It fit nicely in the small space between the water lines and turned true, staying in one place and not spiraling down the copper tubing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for tight area I purchased this tool while doing a remodel in a bathroom. One of the pipes I needed to cut was between studs only 4 inches apart. This tool was plenty small enough and worked perfect. Bigger cutters can usually get through faster, but when space is a premium, this gets the job done
