When I bought this I was dubious. I have had several other jigsaws over the years; all with greater amperage . Some of these were cheap and some pricey. This Jig Saw cuts through heavy wood like butter. The very first day I carved up several butcher block counter tops without any hesitation. Since I have handled knotty pine and heavy plywood with never a hesitation.

Answer:
Yes. In fact, two blades are included - one for metal and the other for wood. I would suggest, however, purchasing new blades - possibly a set of Bosch or the like. The blades that come with the unit are easily bent and lack the "fine" cutting capability of nicer blades. You can get a pack of 4-6 for about $9.00. Be sure you get the "T-style" and NOT the "U".

The model R3101 is a brand new tool and if registered with RIDGID comes with a lifetime service agreement.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lacking quality jigsaw My Bosch jigsaw died on me after years of use. So I bought this one as quick replacement. I hate it. It does have a nice light on it, but it doesn't shine where the blade is. The reason for this is the blade is set way to far back and the visibility of where you are actuallly cutting is very limited. It does have a tilt bed feature so you can cut on an angle. My problem is I can't get it to cut straight. The plate wants to turn on its own. Then the on/off switch is a problem. You can't reach it while operating the tool. you either have to turn it off with your other hand or you have to well, yep I have to use my other hand to turn it off, because the switch isn't in a position to turn it off with the hand you are holding it with. Would not buy again, wish I could get my money back. July 5, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The shoe wont lock in place This jigsaw has a lot of great features and I liked the way it cut until I realized the bevel feature on the shoe doesn't lock in place. It's free to rock side to side making it almost impossible to maintain a square and true cut. All the features in the world don't mean anything if it can't cut straight. I'm waiting to hear back from Ridgid if they have a fix for this design flaw, but for now 1 star. July 13, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst saw I have ever owned! This saw I with out a doubt the worst Jig Saw I have ever owned! The foot will not stay locked on matter how tight I make it! I have tightened it to the point that I am afraid I will strip out the hex bolt if I crank on it any more as the wrench is bending! The oscillation feature stopped working after the second use and has not worked again! The air redirect to blow out the front to keep the cutting track clear broke the first time I attempted to use it! The only way to get it to work is to stuff something in the back to force the air out the front! The port on the back seems to be non standard as none of the hoses that I have will fit it with out tape in some way! Over all I am sorry that I purchased this saw, and I am sorry that I waited to long to return it! June 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Purchase I have been a carpenter and in the building maintenance field sine 1972. I have owned several Rigid Tools and have never had any complaints but this tool is truly a flop; while making my firs cut with the saw I found that the on/off switch was in an inconvenient location if you happen to jam the saw while doing and inside circle cut there is no way to shut it off without removing your hand from either the saw or the work-piece to shut off the switch and remove the jamb creating a somewhat hazardous predicament. Secondly; I have tightened the base plate several times but to no avail the base continually moves from the 90 Deg or 0 mark on the rotation mark; if you can see it at all. Love Rigid tools but would not buy another jig saw before the design team comes up with a better design. June 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Better Options Available The basic form of this saw should provide good visibility and control over work. The design was what interested me. However I returned this saw because it lacks a variable speed control. If you consider the combined negatives: single speed and low power (only 3 amp), there are other name brand jig saws that are better options. If Ridgid addresses the negatives, I would purchase the improved item in a heartbeat because the design is a practical one. May 31, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cutting blindly The on/off switch is definitely a downer. It takes two hands to run the tool. The head is also to close to your work. So you can't see anything you are cutting. It seems like a good solid saw other than that. But I can't get over the not being able to see what you're doing thing. It's kind of important. May 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid saw The saw was very easy to use right out of the box. The lay down style takes a little getting used to, but not long. Works great so far and I don't expect that will change. Down side is having to remove the blade to put it back in the carry case, not the worse thing ever, just slightly annoying. May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice compact jigsaw Over all this is a great jigsaw its very durable but...since its so compact it does have a few thing i dont like. The trigger is litterally just a ON and OFF switch. If you have any kind of kick back form the blade hold on tight because you cant get to the switch quick enough to turn it off. (variable speed trigger would have been nice) Since its so compact it makes it hard to see the blade. I find myself bending over just to try and see where im cutting because its hidden from the body of the jigsaw. I rarely adjust my base angle but i have noticed it hard to read the degree because the read out is under the handle makeing it hard to see. February 23, 2016
