I couldn't get the saw to bog down, even through very wet 2 by PT.

Blades included?

does this saw come with a blade (s)?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. In fact, two blades are included - one for metal and the other for wood. I would suggest, however, purchasing new blades - possibly a set of Bosch or the like. The blades that come with the unit are easily bent and lack the "fine" cutting capability of nicer blades. You can get a pack of 4-6 for about $9.00. Be sure you get the "T-style" and NOT the "U".

Does this have variable speed to be able to start slow and then go faster?

Asked by: BigBoy
This model doesn't have variable speed. It does start slow and then speed up, but it only takes about 2 secs to get to maximum speed.

I got this jigsaw because it was the most affordable low-profile barrel grip design available. The only pro I could find after about two months of frequent use was that it is easy to control...which I already knew would be the case. The cons: Line of sight to the blade is very dificult to obtain. The shoe base does not stay square no matter how tight I crank on the nut. The on-off switch is in a really inconvenient location and shuts off with the vibration of the tool randomly in the middle of making cuts...very inconvenient.

Pros: It turned on. Has a case. Cons: Heavy, awkward. Difficult to see what is being cut. Table will not stay tight, can't keep level. Must use two hands to operate (turn on/off). This tool should be removed from Rigids inventory and apologies made to anyone that bought it. I purchased then returned after trying to use. This aint good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Soft start seemed strange at first, however it is far more friendly. This saw handles well, cuts awesome! The blow feature is a plus, keeping dust off your cut line. Familiarize yourself fully with the saw on some scrap before putting to a project piece. Also recommend purchasing a variety of blades.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the money There is a 3 second delay when you turn it on until it actually turns on. The line of sight is terrible. You have to have your face close to your work to see. The saw dust piles up in front of the blade so you have to blow that out of the way to continue cutting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Saw I wanted to love this saw, but ended up only liking it slightly better than my old one. The grip is large, and fits my hand well. I feel like I have more control and less fatigue, but the blade visibility is basically non-existent which blows any perceived benefits of this "compact" design out of the water. The non-marring base is a neat idea, but I haven't see replacement parts available yet. I hate the power switch design, wish it was thumb-operable and side-mounted like on a drill, instead of on the top of the saw. I would say if you are looking for a new saw, skip this one. If you have a reliable saw and are looking to add to your collection, purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw for the money Don't let the reviews about not being able to see your line fool you. Why do people write reviews when they have no experience using tools? Good view from both sides and clearly visible from the front if you'll just look over the top at your blade. Decent power. Easy to control. You'll pay a lot more for other barrel handled saws. Low profile makes it more stable. I wrote this review because of the negative reviews about this saw. Overall a 3? Come on guys. Don't down something because you don't know how to use it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing purchas I purchased this because of a large project cutting 2x material. I was hoping for more precision and less fatigue than my old reliable black and decker and I liked the way this tool felt in my hand. Unfortunately, it cut 3 or 4 times slower through the thick material than my old saw (with the same blade) and the results weren't any better. I returned it and stuck with my $50 black and decker. Visibility of the blade is also poor. By all accounts the black and decker is a better saw.

You have to look super close to the blade either left or right. And then to look down on the blade you have to lean way over top of the saw to see it and by doing that it's awkward to cut and control. The light doesn't help. The power switch is in a bad spot. A more convenient spot would be on the side so you can switch it on and off with your thumb and still have control without having to remove a hand from the saw to do so.
