Answer:
It can, but I'd recommend leaving it on in case you have a puncture from a nail or such which would cause the dust to go straight into the vacuum intake.
I left my standard filter on with the same vac you have and there was no noticeable difference in power.

Answer:
Yes. You leave the other filter in place. This is a secondary filter as well as easy clean up.

Answer:
You should leave the filter in. You could ruin your motor if the bag were to tear open and the main filter was not in place to protect it from dust.

It's the size of a large toolbox basically, convenient for quick jobsite cleanup and for sanding drywall repairs. That said, Ridgid makes about 5 different size bags up to 20 gallon (I believe, maybe a bit larger). You can likely find one that will work in your Craftsman. I have a vac that was given to me of unknown name, nice stainless tank, good suction. The 16 gallon bags works in it. I'm pretty sure all of the "inlet" pipes that dump into the tank are the same size so attaching the bag should not be an issue. You just need to find the size bag you need for your vac. Hope this helps. Read Less

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 48 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I've had the Ridgid 4 gal. vac for quite a few years and have used these bags from the beginning. They eliminate a messy clean up situation and save the filter. My only gripes are their expense and volume. Since Ridgid advises to keep the filter on the vacuum while using the bags, the volume of debris that can be collected is limited. The filter is quite large, as are the bags, and it obstructs the the bag from filling to its potential. They are also rather expensive. In the end, I'd rather use the bags than deal with the mess, but I have been tempted at times to go commando and take the filter off. October 29, 2016

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Okay Works well as far as collecting dirt but causes a reduction in vacuuming power. Ended up eliminating the bag and just used the filter. It collects in the canister do it works better now. September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ok I guess I have never had a wet or dry vac that used bags, so this is a first. August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Work great The bags mean I don't have to clean out the shop vac every time I use it (bags are for dry use only). The directions are for a different vacuum, but I persevered and the bag eventually fit just fine. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by does the job holds dirt and dust from tile job and kept room dust free. June 30, 2016
