They do not have to be ridgid. For the circular saw you can use any brand that is the correct diameter and the correct hole size in the middle of the blade. I cannot think of any recipe saw blades that won't work in your saw.

Answer:
Hi Manny23, you do not have to use RIDGID brand blades. You can use other manufactures blades as long as its the right size for your circular saw. The reciprocating saw blade has a standard insert tip, so any manufactures blades will work.

X4 18-Volt Hyper Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit (5-Tool) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 233.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product works great for what I need I would like to see some of the new products like the grinder, jig saw,1/2 impact put into a combo kit.I already have enough drills, but can't see myself buying the new products separately.Make it so a customer can do there own combo kit if they wish with the tools they need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Valued Customer I own the 18V combo set and 12V drill/light sets. Really good quality products. I have had issues with the 12V lithium batteries, so I sent them back to the company to get fixed. I sent out a total of four batteries, a radio, and light. They fixed the radio and light, and sent four brand new batteries back to me. I love the lifetime warranty, and they have excellent customer service. I have owned these tool for over five years now. I do small residential jobs, and they are tough. I would definitely recommend RIDGID products to anyone. Thanks RIDGID for such a great product. And thanks for having a customer service center in the U.S. A lot easier to deal with.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good tools but having some issues I purchased this combo kit about a year ago and I use it for serious DIY projects as I am not a contractor. Decks, garages, basement reno, you name it! The light is fantastic! Possibly the best light on the market. The recip saw is really good but it's a battery eater. The impact driver is one of the best I have used and will sink dozens and dozens of 4 inch no.10 screws on one battery no problem. The circular saw is a very handy tool and mine seems sufficiently powerful although a friend of mine is not impressed with his. The sight marks on the base plate do not line up with the supplied blade, they are way off. I swapped out the blade just this last weekend and still no good. I'm dealing with it but it seems to be a design flaw. The hammer drill is more than sufficient for many jobs but 2 weeks ago, the motor started throwing shards of something at the side of my face. Presumably, fragments of motor brushes. I'm bringing it to home depot for an exchange this week but another drill I have exacty like it has been flawless for 6 years until I tore the gearbox out of it doing something that this drill was not built for. My fault. Overall, I am very impressed with all my ridgid tools and the LSA is excellent. There are better quality tool out there but they cost way more and the warranty period is short. I own power tools by Hitachi, dewalt, bosch, skil and Milwaukee and I prefer the piece of mind of the Ridgid LSA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent collection of cordless tools with the power to perform when you need to work hard and get a job done fast. Aside from the hassle of having to record the serial number of all the components in this combo kit to complete the lifetime warranty registration, I haven't got a complaint. The drill and driver are light weight, powerful, and hold a charge. The saws really work and the work light is clever and easy to use. Used almost all the pieces erecting a large high tunnel greenhouse. There was no electricity on site and I needed these tools to get the house up on time. Good equipment and the price was also good and I am glad to be moving on from 12V, aging junk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best! These are the best! much better than the older X3 series tools. The tools are well balanced, not to heavy nor to light, powerful, intuitive, and very well constructed from what I can tell so far. The chuck-less sleeve on the hammer drill is made of metal which impressed me since many of the manufacturers use plastic for this. Also the metal on the circular saw is made out of magnesium but is more of a gunmetal color. Very cool. The batteries have an led gauge on them so you will know if they are running low and they charge very quickly. They are also smaller and lighter than the L-ion batteries used on the X3. I have only used the set a little bit as this is the first day with them but they have not disappointed. Also this is the only kit available that gave me every essential tool I could possibly want at this price and with Lithium ion. Also the lifetime guarantee on the kit including the batteries makes this purchase a no-brainer. I would definitely buy again. Thanks RIDGID for making a quality product at a reasonable price and backing it for life!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ridgid is Built to LAST!!! I work in the service and construction, residential and commercial HVAC industry on multiple job sites. These tools have held up to the tests. Oh! Don't forget to register your purchase, THE LIFETIME WARRANTY IS FOR REAL! About two years after another set of Ridgid power tools I purchased I sent the batteries and charger in and received two new batteries and charger, FREE!!! Oh I sold that set to a co-worker who could not afford new but needed a dependable set of tools. I highly recommend these tools!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Excellent Tools, but has design flaws Let me start by saying that I've purchased MANY Cordless tools in my short life. Now while Ridgid is not the most innovative company, it's surely the most aggressive Marketing-wise. Ridgid offers a life-time warranty on most of its tools, including BATTERIES. Yes, Batteries! I've had a few of these darn things die out on me, and the cost of replacing them on my old Makita Impact Drill set, made me consider Ridgid. The batteries for my Makita BHP451 cost roughly half the price of a brand new drill. Now taking that under consideration, I opted for a good quality tool, with AVERAGE performance and AVERAGE options. I say average because, I feel that Makita, Milwaukee and DeWalt offer better battery performance, better options, more versatile tools, and consequently are more innovative. But when you look at quality and durability, all brands are about the same . TOOL BY TOOL ASSESSMENT Hammer Drill: It's hard to remain neutral when you see that a tool's design been botched. The hammer drill is the worst tool of this combo. Pros: Rugged design. Drill Handle is easy to install. Powerful LED floodlight. High torque. LED turns on when you hold the handle. Cons: Poor positioning of the LED light. 2-speeds only. very poorly balanced (When placed upright, one nudge will send it to the floor). only one drill bit slot and it's poorly positioned. No tool hook available, while the impact drill has one. The drill is also quite heavy compared to the competition. Impact drill: It's fun, compact and powerful. A well-thought tool, but a little heavy. Pros: Tool belt hook is very useful. Easy drill bit pop-in / pop-out system (the bit simply slides in, and when you pull the chuck, it ejects) Cons: Only one drill bit slot, Poor positioning of the LED (The LED is positioned atop the battery and aims upwards toward the chuck. Putting the LED right under the trigger or around the chuck improves visibility and is less blinding). the Impact drill is also prone to tipping. This is partly due to battery design and weight distribution. Reciprocating Saw: Conventional design with a twist: it's orbital! Pros: 2 mode system: Back/Forth or Orbital. If you want precision, you can use Back/Forth; if you want sheer speed, orbital is the way to go. Adjustable depth/angle boot. Rugged design. Cons: The LED does not stay on when depressed, unlike the other tools. It's heavy, but not unlike any other Recip of that size. Circular saw: The best tool in this set Pros: Intelligent design, can do bevel cuts and has variable blade depth. Battery is well positioned, the fore grip is comfortable and ergonomical. The edges of the skidplate (the flat metal plate from which the blade protrudes) are beveled. Incredibly lightweight for its size. And most important, a brake system. As soon as you let go of the trigger, it automatically stops. Cons: LED does not stay on when depressed. Poor LED positioning. Lack of Laser guide system makes the saw imprecise for precision work. No hose connector (for indoor use with a vacuum system). Blade guard looks like the plastic might crack (Very rigid plastic, no pun intended). Work Light: Looks flimsy, and more like a waste of space than a useful tool. Pros: Uses the same batteries as the tools. Has 2 modes: Flood or Beam. Beam Light is blinding-bright. A metal slide hook can be pulled to hook the light to a 2x3. Adjustable light angles Cons: Not rubberized like the rest of the tools, and if dropped, could break. Flood light is useless. Power button is hard to press in, I would have opted for a simple flick-switch. The retractable hook can only hook to a 2" wood stud, I would have preferred a clamp of some sort that can adjust to any depth. The Batteries 18v, 3.0 amps: Heavy, terrible design (stability-wise), but Lifetime warrantied, and you can't beat that. Try to get a 1.5Amp, they are flatter and increase stability while reducing weight. Pros: UNBEATABLE WARRANTY. LED power gauge Cons: Batteries have rounded bottoms, and create instability when coupled to the drills. They tend to make the drills tip over all the time. The coupling system consists of 2 orange buttons on either side, and need to be pressed together at the same time. At times, it can be difficult to correctly insert the battery in the tool's socket. Battery recharge from dead to full is 50 mins for the 18v 3.0amp, and about half that time for the 1.5 amp. OVERALL APPRECIATION: Now while the tools are not up to par with other big brand names, they are still a great deal. Ridgid offers a solid warranty (Provided that you register all your tools online, if you don't you don't get the Lifetime warranty, but a 3 year warranty plan). The battery performance is great, and the tools handle well. But Ridgid's problem is tool design. Great performances are always undermined by design flaws like the drill's upwards stability, or poor LED placement. And that makes the tools feel cheap. Ridgid's lack of innovation and imagination is cast aside by their warranty, hassle-free return policy and brilliant marketing strategy... and the color orange.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Right Power - Right Price - Best Warranty! We do lots of remodelling projects. This combo pack came out of the box ready to work! The X4 batteries (I got 3 with HD's promotion) that give each tool plenty of power for each job. Even the SawZall tore it up on my last demo job. Only complaint is the LED lights being located on the base of the drill and impact driver. I'd rather have the light turned on by the trigger rather the separate button, which keeps turning on as I carry it. But hey, the batteries last plenty long anyway, and the charger works super quick.
