How does one remove these without taking paint off at the same time? Is there a recommended way of getting them off?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello kk, Thank you for your question. Redi Shade Fabric White Light Blocking Window Shades are best removed by slowing pulling the shade away from the window frame. Sometimes this will leave behind a stick residue which can be removed by rolling the residue off with your finger. If the first technique does not work, apply rubbing alcohol to residue and let sit for 10 minutes. Next, with a putty knife or spatula, remove residue gently to avoid damage to your window or frame. The use of plain white towels are recommended, due to the transferring of ink that may occur from using printed towels. If the first two suggestions do not work, use Goo Gone, following the same method of application as the rubbing alcohol. Thank you for your interest in this product.

These do not have a cord. They are held in place with double-sided tape and have clips to hold them up when raised.

how are these installed?

Asked by: kpk
Hi KPK, and thank you for your question! The Redi Shade White Fabric Light Blocking Pleated Shade comes with an adhesive strip at the top of the shade for simple installation. To install, after trimming your shade(if necessary), peel the shade liner, then press firmly across the width to adhere your shade to the window. If you need further instructions, please go to our website at: https://redishade.com/pages/no-tools-installation, and look at the Original Shades. Thank you for your interest in Redi Shade!

They are paper shades with a fabric-like coating on one side. Unfortunately, the manufacturer applied the adhesive to the textured side of the shade, rather than the smooth paper side. As a result, the weight of the shade causes it to pull apart from the adhesive. I have adhesive on my window casing, and shades on the floor. This would seem to be a manufacturing defect. I bought this more expensive option for my bedrooms so that we could have some light-blocking. These shades are about $10 each, while the paper shades are about $4 each. The cost was NOT worth it. Currently awaiting replacement products from Redi Shade.

We attached them to the window because previous reviews mentioned that the paint came off the windowsill sometimes when they were removed. I've had them up about 3 weeks and they are still up and looking good except for one that fell. It is in a window that receives full sun and that may be the problem. I raise and lower three of the shades daily and they have retained their shape well. Although not blackout shades, they do block the light (and heat). The shades are a great temporary solution until we put permanent window coverings for our new home.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed The blinds came in a box as if it was already used but continued to install them. 3 out of 4 had holes and you couldn't see it until it was hung. Also it says fabric but it's actually like paper. It's different from the order placed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not fabric, thick paper These are not temporary fabric shades. There are a thick paper that are almost completely opaque. They are not as expected or described. I returned them immediately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the job Easy to cut to size and a snap to install; just rip off the protective strip and press against the window frame. The blocking layer gives the shade a blue tint that works wonderfully where I'm using it. Hope I can find permanent shades the same tint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Make Your Own Arch Shade! We used two of these shades to create an inexpensive arch shade, attached together with double-sided tape. The only ready-made arch shades we could find were either light-filtering or black. (The set comes with four shades, so there was no worry if we messed up the first two...which we did not.) We're very pleased with how the project turned out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product performs exactly like I expected! I wanted a light blocking blind in my guest room for comfortable sleeping but did not want it be "permanent" so when I don't have guests in the guest room, I simply fold the blind up and it folds less than an inch thick and clip it to the top of the window. SInce it is white, it is not noticeable, especially because I have a drapery on the window, too. I am very pleased with this purchase. Not sure I would call the material "fabric" as it more like a heavy paper not cloth-like.
