Answer:
This device is intended to be used on a 120 volt outlet and will not work on 220 volts. We do not have a similar device that is rated at 220 volts.

Answer:
i don't know about any volume change, but the one i just purchased for the garage cannot be heard while standing at the insulated door to the garage. it's fine for a room you're in often enough to notice the outage.

Answer:
I'm not sure if it's been re-designed, but I purchased one last week, and it's loud enough that I can hear it from the garage if I'm in that half of the house. It's volume is louder than a wristwatch alarm, but not quite as loud as a bedside alarm clock. I'm pretty sure it would wake me up if it was in the same room that I was asleep in, and I'm a moderate (not heavy or light) sleeper.

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 30 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Product I bought 2 of these alarms. One for me, and one for my parents. We both have basement flooding issues if the power goes out during heavy rains, and the sump pump stops running. We need to startup generators fairly quickly. My father tries to stay awake all night long, to monitor power during storms... and I usually just sleep and hope for the best. Until I woke up to 6 inches of water in the basement. With these alarms, we can now sleep soundly, knowing we will be awaken, if the power goes off. It's loud enough to wake you if you keep it in your bedroom, and it is easy to find with the automatic built-in light. Highly recommended. November 20, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Power out indicated ! I was asked to design a warning system for power failure for cooling chillers in our lab. This simple inexpensive solution was applauded by my boss and the low cost was definately a plus. I ordered two and they have been tested to work as promised, and they are both in service. We intend to order several more. ! This device would probably be used more if people knew that it was available for applications like deep freezes where they are usually placed out of sight in garages and basements. My wife and daughter want them at the house as they could use them as easy to find flashlights when the power goes out Thanks ! December 12, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Power Alarm We use the power alarm to wake us up if we lose power during a heavy rain storm so that we can start our generator to keep our sump pump running. For the price we paid, it's a lot cheaper than sleeping through a power outage and waking up to a flooded basement. The alarm isn't as loud as I thought it would be, but I have it plugged in next to my bed and it's at least as loud as our alarm clock. When plugged in there is a green LED that shines a very dim light into the room, which makes for a good-enough nightlight. September 27, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by it's fine, but it takes up an outlet it seems like a fine product, but the last power out alarm i had had a pass-through outlet on the front. this one clearly doesn't, and i should have noticed that. the alarm volume is fine, but you won't hear it through any insulated wall or floor. the alarm is in the garage for a freezer, and you can't hear it standing at the door, but it's fine if it's a room you're in often. i would not use it in the basement for a sump pump. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Satisfied my need to provide alarm when freezer circuit is without power For the price, you can not go wrong. I had read other reviews prior to purchase. I was concerned it not being very loud. For this reason, I purchased two of them. Since my freezer is in the garage on a GFI circuit that is control from our master bath, I put one in the master bath and one in the garage. Now, I have no problem hearing them. January 28, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing & Somewhat Unreliable! Bought 2 and trashed one within a month because the alarm died. The alarm is very low and doesn't even wake the dog. Beeps very softly at intervals. Light does come on but is like a small night light. I wanted something that could actually be heard and capable of waking at least one person in the house. This product doesn't do that. August 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product We got this to alert us if our freezer outlet stopped working after we lost a full freezer of food because outlet was off and we did not know. We have tested it by tripping GFI and it seems to work great so far. November 12, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Product has a very quiet alarm, less than a telephone dial tone. Bought product to provide an alarm when power outage occurs at sump pump. However you must be in the room with the pump in order to hear the alarm. I would not recommend its use as something to wake up a C-Pap user unless a telephone dial tone would wake you up. (Telephone dial tone is 80 db/ Power Failure Alarm 78db) September 3, 2012
