Answer:
I am a bit unclear of your question. This unit runs three 5500w elements simultaneously using 240 volts to achieve the GPM (gallons per minute) rating. If you have questions or need further clarification please contact our technical support team at 800-431-1549 – 7 to 7central time, 7 days a week, this includes weekends and holidays.

Answer:
The water heater requires a minimal electrical service of 240-Volt electrical service, 2 separate 40 Amp breaker(s) and 8-Gauge copper wiring. Amperage is wattage divided by voltage.

Amperage is calculated by dividing wattage by voltage
So 18,000W / 240V = 75amps

RE: RETE-18 - 18KW Electric tankless water heater.

I want to go with a tankless water heater, but am unsure as to what flow rate I should look for. I live alone, so there wouldn't be an issue with a lot of hot water demand at one time, i.e., shower + dishwasher + washer would not be running at the same time. I have low flow faucets and shower heads.

Answer:
There are two main criteria to consider, ground-water temperature and usage. This unit is designed to provide hot water for up to two bathrooms in warmer climates or a single bathroom in colder climates. Before I could tell you for certain, I would need to know you approximate location. See the "How to Choose Your Rheem EcoSense Tankless Electric" section of this page for help.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot be repaired This worked ok for almost 2 years. Quit working and has a bad magnetic flow switcch. Searched for hours And Rheem cannot even tell me where to purchase switch. Rheem does not recognize RETE-18 as a model number

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality - works for 2 years tops!!! The first one I bought was DOA (red flag) and got this replacement ordered on 6/19/12 at Home Depot in Hurricane, WV. It was installed around August 2012 and it died right after Thanksgiving 2014. So about two years or less is all your going to get out of one of these. I haven't seen where anyone has had one longer than that. So I guess I was lucky. It was in a detached two story garage with a full bath and I bet it didn't have 1000 gallons through it. The board on these are extremely fragile. Remember only 1 year warranty. Should have done my homework before I bought this unit or paid attention to the red flag. Guess I will go back to tank heater. Even the other brands have similar problems.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Think again before buying this product Three weeks without hot water & Rheem refuses to stand by its product! I've purchased a digital voltage meter & a $50 adapter to reduce water flow to a trickle & the water is lukewarm if it's warm at all! Rheem contends that since the voltage inside the heater is working it's our problem that we don't have hot water! Home Depot needs an RA number from Rheem to return it & Rheem is not willing to give one! Once these heaters are installed they are difficult to return

Replaced under warranty and now about 3 years on the replacement it died last night. Just like someone else mentioned it started heating the water to scalding point and then the next time I turned the water on it wouldn't get more than lukewarm.
