Answer:
I would recommend contacting Ring support, the app has the option to send them an e-mail.
I've found them responsive and helpful when I had difficulty with the security screws (I stripped the head on one of mine).
Cheers,
Mike

Although it might be worth a question directly to support@ring.com to see if it's just notifications that go via the cloud, and if you were to answer the Ring from a device on the same network whether the video feed would stay on the wifi local network.

I have 2 very large and loud indoor dogs that will bark at anything that moves outside. When I answer will the visitor know that I am not at home? If someone is at the door and the dogs are inside barking at them but I answer the Ring from 20 miles away and there are no barking dogs on my end will the visitor know that I am not at home? Or, will the sounds mix through the speaker?

They will not know because they will hear your voice and then the dogs at the same time. The speaker is not that loud.

All depends on how far and how strong your WIFI signal is. Mine is currently on the fritz with a full charge but not working while the app is saying it needs charged.

Wireless Video Doorbell is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 517.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed & very well built wireless doorbell Nice new Ring Video doorbell and it's wireless too. This has a built in camera with 160 degree night vision capability. Everything is motion activated and images are stored in the "Cloud" in case "porch bandits" (as they were referred to on tonight's news) decide to help themselves. Runs off of my WiFi service. My WiFi system was too far away so I had to install the WiFi extender, and I am also installing the optional door bell ring chime due to my home's configuration. This system is extremely well designed & thought out. Also great that all of the necessary tools and parts were included. I also charged my unit overnight with the included USB cord.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly Useful and Innovative Product I have been using the new Ring Wireless Video Doorbell for about a week now and have really become a fan of this product. The installation application and videos are really helpful and it comes with all of the necessary hardware and tools. I have a wired door bell, but decided not to use the existing wiring because the button it too low and raising it would require extensive modification. I am especially impressed with the ability to talk and see someone at the door from anywhere on my smart phone. The motion monitor and alert is also a nice feature. This is one of those category of products that you don’t believe you need, but once installed and working, then you can’t imagine being without it. Highly recommend the Ring Wireless Video Doorbell!!

I can use from home to see who is there and respond to the door bell. Easy to configure the motion detector and adjust the sensitivity. The video is adequate to identify individuals easily, the fish eye lens causes some distortion, but it gives full view of front yard. I had some trouble configuring my wife's iPhone. I have a windows phone so I screwed up the iPhone configuration. I called their tech support. They answered within 20 seconds. The technical support center is the best support that I have ever worked with. I have been a Certified Microsoft Engineer and Instructor since 1995. I speak as a professional when I say their support is excellent.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Thought it was amazing at first..Give it two weeks My husband and I bought the Ring doorbell on Black Friday on sale for $169, hooked it up and thought it was absolutely amazing!! Then a week later we noticed that it was was legging and would start recording late, the sound cuts off if you and person speak at the same time. The live stream when i'm away from home doesn't always work. THE WORST THING OF ALL (which no one else is mentioning) is you have to detach your doorbell and charge it every two weeks EVEN IF IT'S HARDWIRED!!! To me that's ridiculous! Overall, I love this product, but it needs needs some work and apparently the Ring Pro is not much better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Install, Good Amount of Features I had no issue installing it. I've installed all the electronics in my house and this felt no different. Very straight forward instructions. I think the hardest part was figuring out where to position it so it would be accessible to visitors, but also provide a good image for me. It came with a screwdriver and level, so it was easy to get straight when I did pick a spot. The video quality isn't the best, but it's what I expected for the purpose. I can clearly see who's there and what's going on when away, which is just fine. It costs $30 per year for their service, but it provides cloud storage, which I appreciate. The motion detector uses heat signatures, which I haven't seen in a security camera before but I liked. It wasn't triggered by the wind moving in the trees, light shifts, or anything else like that. It has a good amount of settings too so I was able to get a good personalized set up for it that fit my needs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from it is ok device For the most part it works as advertised. It will monitor your front door and you can speak to anyone who rings the bell. The only complaint I have is that the motion detection is slow, usually i will see people leaving the door so i see only back of the person. By the time it begins to record who has approached the door (but don't ring the bell) all I see is their back as they walk away. But since this is usually delivery people I guess that is really minor. As for setting up motion i could not figure out what is triggering my motion on wednesday until last week when i stay at home and notice that garbage truck on street is triggering motion even on lowest setting i guess the diesel engine make a lot vibration and trigger the motion sensor. also once you are out of urban area like fishing, camping and you do not have 4G (if you are on slower speed) you will not be able to answer the ring it will take forever to load, i guess you need to be on 4G speed or someones WiFi. the quality of video they claim is HQ but my computer is telling me the video Quality is lower than expected.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Innovative useful doorbell. Bottom Line: Very nice feature to have in your home. General: This smart doorbell is very useful to have in your home. It allows you to see hear and speak to your guests over your smartphone. The connectivity is great. I am able to connect to it every time. The doorbell will work without paying a membership. However, if you want your video to be stored you will have to pay ring for that service. There is no internal storage capability. The quality of video is very good, even at night when there is low light (see photo on this review). Item can be used for home security, but only if you pay for the cloud service. Otherwise it is just a nice feature to have in your home. Material/Construction: The doorbell hardware seems robust, it is very well built. This is not a small doorbell, it will not be easy to hide or blend in. For the individuals that live in condominiums with strict regulations, I would recommend checking with their HOA before purchasing. Easiness of installation and setup: Installation was straight forward. The doorbell can be installed with or without direct power. If installed with no power, it has to be removed and charge through a built in USB port. Setting up the ring account on your smartphone was simple. There is no charge for setting up the account, unless you want to use their cloud services.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "I can answer the front door even when I'm not home" "Just amazing" This Wireless Video Doorbell is ideal to have whenever your away from home. I am very excited with this device. First thing is to download the Ring app to your phone. Once you've logged into your app it will prompt you on how to log in and setup the wireless doorbell. Took nearly 15-20 minutes to add the app to my phone and modify to my settings, afterwards I installed the mounting bracket and the parts, tool are included in the box. I've added a few photo to view. Since I don't have an existing doorbell I'll be needing to check the battery level which is on the app main screen and the charging cable is also included in the pack. This is an awesome addition to security and peace of mind while away from home. I currently have the motion detection on and it works extremely well. My children enjoy pressing the wireless button while testing it out the device. I was able to answer, hear and see in real time. I can't stop saying how awesome this device is. It doesn't come with an in home chime which can be purchased separately at your home improvement store. You have the option to connect your old wiring doorbell to the ring mounting bracket or if you don't have wiring from your existing doorbell not to worry, you can simply charge up the Ring doorbell and it works great. You need to keep a good eye on the battery level. It's a bit of a bother having to dismount the front portion of the Ring and having to charge it. I really don't mind it since this device is doing it's part in function.
