Do the holes for mounting the rail line-up with a wall that has studs 16" on center?

I have read reviews stating the mounting holes do no line-up with standard wall studs. I am curious if this issue has been corrected.

Answer:
Get the ones longer than 32 inches. I installed two yesterday in my garage and in each case one of the studs needed was off by 1/2 to 1 inch. So I was only able to put two into the studs instead of three. Having said that I am looking to put a metal plate on the 3rd stud and bolting it to the last hole on the rail.

Answer:
I have the 32" tracks. The tracks hit only two studs set 16" apart. Two 16" spaces between studs and 3 studs at 2" each, the tracks should be at least 38". But, yes, the holes for mounting the rails will line up with 2 of the 3 recommended/required studs.

Answer:
If your studs are EXACTLY 16" on center, the yes, but experience says they aren't always exactly and where you want to hang them isn't always where the studs are!
I've installed 84" (1), 48" (3) and 32" (4) hang rails and found that it just depends. I've been able to make it work in every instance.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in our products. The FastTrack 48'' Rail is designed to hit 4 studs along each rail. For a 16'' stud spacing, we recommend placing the edge of the rail at the center of the stud and angling the screws into the end studs around a 20 degree angle.

Answer:
Yes, but you have some heavy metal cutting to do by hand or a metal chop saw. The plastic cover could be cut with a hacksaw or other fine tooth saw to the same length. The cover is open on the ends and clips/snaps top and bottom, so that works.

Answer:
No. Not a ceiling mount. Wall mount only, and yes - you will need to anchor to the studs in the wall. For examples, see photo.

Installation: concrete block wall or aluminum studs

Can this product be installed in a concrete block wall? If so, what is the recommended way to do that?

My other option is a drywall installation into aluminum studs. Can it be installed on that kind of wall as well? If so, how to do that?

Answer:
Yes, you need plastic anchors that match the provided screws for concrete. I use the tubular kind. Aluminum studs, you'd need to pre-drill a smaller hole in the metal stud so that it would grab well. Depth may be an issue, so a longer screw may be needed.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Product This kit is very sturdy, easy to install, and has provided an extraordinary amount of organization to our garage. Large and long power tools fit very securely in the hooks. I thought it was well priced. The bike hook (which you must buy separately) is surprisingly sturdy and really works. Took my husband about 2 hours to install. I did free ship to store and the shipment comes in 2 boxes, so be sure to get all items. The HD representative was not careful and sent me home with half of my purchase. Thanks Rubbermaid and Home Depot! October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Hanging System for Large Items Very sturdy and clean looking hanging system for large tools and equipment in the garage. I mounted on cement block walls with no difficulty. I had to obtain the right plastic concrete wall anchors that fit the screws that were provided. You can find additional hangers for the system in Home Depot and even other hardware stores to expand your system (which I did for some additional garden tools). The 4 foot lengths give some some versatility. You can have high and low sections. Don't butt them together. That may look pretty, but you can hang items right to the end of each bar, so you are just wasting your ability to hang more items by spacing them apart. They're strong, as long as you anchor them as instructed. I hang my lawn mower, spreader, and heavy tools. Doesn't flex a bit. The hangers lock on and off with no effort, but if you knock them by accident, not problem. Then won't move or fall off if that happens. It's an excellently designed hanging system. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Garage Fastrack kit If one expects to mount this in a line 3 across, it will present problems lining it up with studs. One 48" bar will be fine, but the second one in a row throws off the alignment with the studs. Better off buying their 84" bar (or whatever is the longest). And if the bars are thrown off in the stud alignment, one will need more plaster board mounting anchors to mount the bars. So you might want to buy an extra package of mounting screws, etc. Plan on buying a stud finder, if you don't have one already. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Garage organization Ifound the product to be decent but it was a bit pricey September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great on-line deal This kit is only available on-line with a 30% discount, although you can buy all the components separately at the store (without the discount). I picked up my order in the store, but the staff were confused by the "kit" as it shipped in two packages. But with a little perseverance, they figured it out. Install was fairly easy. Two people is helpful. I installed ours as one 11 ft track - I had to cut off 1 ft because of space limitations. A sharp hacksaw worked fine, and took about 1 minute of cutting. The value is good with the discount. Otherwise the separate hangers seem a little pricey. But they are made well and sturdy. I ordered a second one after installing the first. August 2, 2016
