Customer Questions & Answers

Can i put this over hw floor finished with pro oil based semi poly?

Asked by: Weakendwarrior
Yes! Rust-Oleum Parks Pro Finisher Polyurethane for Floors may be applied over an existing finish. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of wax, grease, oil, shellac, lacquer, mildew, and polishes. Once the surface is clean, sand and remove sanding residue before applying Pro Finisher.

Can I use this on self-stick vinyl floor tiles to waterproof them?

Asked by: Hayley
Hayley, Rust-Oleum Parks Polyurethane for Floors is not recommended for application to tiles. This product is designed to adhere to wood surfaces only. For a durable water resistance coating over vinyl tile floors, we recommend using Rust-Oleum RockSolid Polycuramine.

1 gal. Clear Semi-Gloss Water-Based Polyurethane for Floors is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT PRODUCT/WILL USE AGAIN this is a great product and reasonable price considering the other brands. being water based had no high fumes. spread with a Water Whiz applicator and went on nice and smoothly. Easy clean up. Made my 107 yr old floors great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use... This product goes on the floor clean and easy. As directed, I did NOT shake the bottle prior to pouring into paint pan so I had NO issues with bubbles. It goes on easy and dries in the time that they said that it would. I have used this product two different times and have had great results both times. Once I used the flat the second time I used the semi-gloss and I prefer the finish on that one. I would use this product again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this stuff!!! Easy to work with; fast drying! Says dries in an hour, dried in about 45 minutes. Cleans up easily with soap and water. This is the way to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! I've refinished all the hardwood floors in my very old house. For the last area, I ran out of my MinWax water based poly. The Rust Oleum was much cheaper so I decided to try it. When I opened it, it looked very different so I was skeptical. But I applied it anyway. It is, by far, the best looking area in the whole house. Needless to say, I'll be putting coat of this on all the other areas in my house. Five stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from caution for prefinished floor This is a very good product with one flaw that I discovered. Even with extensive prep it would not adhere to our prefinished floor (sorry no brand info in the floor. it was installed as part of a fire restoration). The prefinish is hard enough that one must use a 50 grit belt sander to remove. spreads great super sheen andno bubbles.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's OK I used this product on painted floors. You have to careful about bubbles. It does dry quickly. If your floor doesn't get much traffic it will do better. High traffic didn't seem to protect the finish very well. I used two coats, Probably could have used four.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Easy to apply, looks good, poor scratch resistance Sanded floor well, used Parks sealer. Put on at least 4 coats of Parks water based Poly. 5 days after the final coat, my 3 year old grandson was playing with hot wheel cars on the newly finished floor. It is scratched in at least a dozen areas. I wasted a lot of time, money and energy. I would look for a quality product unless you never have anything that could possibly cause damage!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Time will tell. I found the product to be good for a novice like myself but users must be careful. BE WARNED IF THE FLOOR NEEDS COLOR YOU WILL HAVE TO STAIN 1ST AND LET DRY COMPLETELY. HOME DEPOT DOES NOT SELL WATER BASED STAIN FOR FLOORS!!!! It would really help if you have a T-bar applicator. The pad available at home depot suffice but they are small and you have to work hard to spread and keep a wet edge. It is really a two man job even if the other person is making sure you don't miss spaces. I used the sander sealer the satin finish and then the semi gloss. It looked pretty good
