I am painting a metal railing for the inside of my house. I sprayed as evenly as I could and some areas are smooth and some look hammered.

Answer:
Yes, Stops Rust Hammered Spray Paint is ideal for bare or previously sand blasted surfaces such as wrought iron. For bare metal, we recommend the use of a Rust-Oleum primer. It will provide added corrosion protection, excellent adhesion, and hiding. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Stops-Rust-12-oz-Clean-Metal-Primer-Spray-Paint-7780830/100143442

I am in the process of fixing/repainting a number of floor registers in our 116 year old farmhouse. I would like to use this product on a couple of them, but they are at the entrance of our kitchen and a high-traffic area. Does anybody have other suggestions that would stand up to paws and feet?

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by it's spray paint that I can't live without! I love the hammered metal look,,,it blends together do much nicer than just plain metal paint. I did my outside furniture, my antique milk cans, you name it, if needed a metal finish,,,this is what I used! However my BEST trick was using this paint to reinvent every light switch cover and outlet cover in our house! It took forever to get them all back in their places, but well worth the time and effort! It's also less expensive, and it works better than the same brands "big fancy can" paint! September 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Makes old iron furniture like NEW! I have a 30+ year old iron patio set that was in need of either replacement or refurbishment. Cost told me to refurbish. I didn't know this product existed. Saw it and tried it on one table. Outstanding!! I have redone all of the other pieces and everyone who sees it thinks I bought new. My only suggestion is that if you are going to do over 10 pieces of iron furniture buy the trigger to keep your fingers from cramping. Saved me over $1,000 for 3 days work and $50 in paint.. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice finish The hammered finish is similar to the crinkle finish of electronics of the 50s. It covers well, but 2 coats are definitely required. When the first coat begins to "hammer" you'll see through to the base material, add the second coat and it looks great. Because of the "hammer" effect it is very tolerant of runs - you'll see them, but they aren't nearly as noticeable as would be if it were just gloss paint. I repainted a free refrigerator with it - it turned an eyesore into something I would actually use in my house. August 20, 2007
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stuff Bought a used boat and the trailer wheels looked bad. Went to my spray Paint shelf and had a can of this. Since the paint on the wheels was pitted and peeling I thought this would be better that gloss black. All I can say is WOW!! the wheels looked powder coated. People think I dropped the bucks for expensive wheels. May 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing consistency I bough this paint for a register in a slate tiled bathroom. I was curious to see how it would hold up and I am very satisfied. The paint is hard and has not showed any signs of distress. I am also amazed how consistent the texture is. It looks like it powder coated it. Worth every penny. June 28, 2010
