How do you get this in different colors?

I only saw one color option available on homedepot.com, but on the Rust-oleum website it mentions that there are 24 color options to tint the bond coat. Is this something that needs to be done at the paint counter, or do you buy the kit in the color you want? I want to use this to update a buffet cabinet.

I love this product, I have used it for my fireplace surround, kitchen cabinets, and bathroom vanities. It is extremely durable and I have had it tinted in everything from linen to espresso. The paint counter at the store will tint the bond coat for you, just be sure to pay attention to whether you're grabbing the light color kit or the dark color kit so you get the right kit for the color you want.

You need to be at the store to choose your color, then they will take the tinting base out of the box and mix it for you.

Answer:
Karen, Rust-Oleum Furniture Transformation Kit needs to be tinted in the store at the paint counter. It is not available for sale in premixed colors. This kit will be ideal to update your buffet cabinet. If this product is not available for purchase in your local store, it works out best to have the product shipped to the store and tinted when you pick it up.

are you asking if you need to sand it first? if so, no you don't need to sand it first. the kit comes with everything you need to take whatever is on there off and paint with the color you chose and then glaze it. very easy to use. I bought 3 $7 paint brushes. I didn't feel like washing them so I tossed them.

Answer:
Without really knowing much about your table, I would say no. They have a deglosser that works great to help the paint bond to whatever you are using it on. Just use the kit as is.

Sanding would help the process but cleaning the dust would be very important to the final finish. If you choose to sand I would use a very fine grit paper before cleaning it.

Answer:
For the Rust O Leum furniture refinishing, there is no sanding required at least for the white veneer bath cabinet that I refinished. According to the instructions, no sanding is required. It is up to you whether you want to sand it or not before painiting, but it is not required.

Answer:
Furniture Transformations is a revolutionary coating system that does not require any stripping, sanding, or priming. The only scenario where sanding would be required is if there was a previous coating of paint that is chipping or flaking. In that case you should sand with a 120-220 grit sandpaper in order to achieve a smooth finish.

Hi! I have a glossy oak kitchen table that I would like to change the color to espresso or cherry. But I read on someones review that said this product scratches easy. Can you please confirm? Wise to paint over it with a gloss finish? It would obviously be a VERY used surface and scratched paint would be really disappointing. thanks!

Answer:
The product does not scratch easily as long as you complete all steps listed on the box. If you don't use the final sealer coat then yes, the product does scratch off easily - I was a bit lazy with finishing up one of my vanities and had to touch up a few spots before I put the final coat on, but once the final coat is on and has dried it is extremely durable.

I did apply multiple coats. I was using HVLP spray gun however. I don't why you couldn't brush a second coat as well. Maybe consider lightly sanding with extra fine sand paper first though

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So much fun!!! This was my first "restoration" and I have to say it turned out great. The directions are easy to follow. I restored an old dresser for my 7 year old daughter. She even helped with the color painting. I stenciled the pics over the paint and then put the top coat over it. There were no smudges or smearing. The smell isn't bad either and was able to do the whole project in the house. I have to say I'm not a fan of the decorative coat as it changed the color (you can see the mirror is darker). As this was for my daughter's room we wanted the brighter color. The top coat dries rather quickly so that was a huge plus. There were also some gouges on the top of the dresser that I did not sand out. They're hardly noticeable after painting. July 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Transformations by Rust-oleum Transformations is truly one of the most incredible products out there!!! I wanted a new bedroom set because mine felt outdated... it is the honey oak...After pricing furniture...which is garbage compare to the solid wood 30 year old furniture I have.... I turned to Transformations made by Rust-oleum. Within a weekend I updated a 6 foot armoire, 6 foot long dresser, 2 nightstands and a headboard. Because the honey oak had such a lovely design, I made it 2 toned to I could have the light and the dark. Not for everyone's taste but I sure like it! OMgosh!!! I have a new bedroom set!!! I bought 2 kits for cupboards and had left over. The Cabernet is warm and elegant!! 3 years later today I resurfaced a end table top that was cracking from Colorado dryness. OMgosh again..the Cabernet covered the blemishes and the piece looks brand new. HIGHLY recommend this product!!!!!!!!!!!! In fact I HAVE recommended this product to another friend who wants to update her bedroom set. A little sweat equity and its done. I'm happy!!! June 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful finish! I just redid a bathroom with an oak cabinet, sink base and mirror. At first it goes on like paint and I didn't care too much for the color but once I added the glaze, I was in love! The glaze gives back that woodgrain look. I did this project in 2 days. It would've been done sooner if you didn't have the dry times. I am a lady and had no problem doing this on my own. You'll love this product! July 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This stuff is awesome! I actually used the "furniture transformation" on my kitchen cabinets because the cabinet line didn't have the grey color I wanted. I took my time, and I would HIGHLY recommend doing a light courtesy sanding even though it says its not required. My cabinets held up very well. Please take your time with the top coat, it will dry white on a dark color if its to thick "drip marks." I would do this again beacuse the finished product was beautiful! June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Not an artist What a nice product. I was very weary of how well this would turn out. I made a project out of plywood and knew it would not stain well to try to match a vanity. First coat had me thinking "what did I do?". Once I feathered the 2nd coat on and played around with it, I was amazed. Such a cool product. I am looking for excuses to use it again. April 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worth every penny This kit is worth every penny. I redid a dresser and two nightstands with the one kit. I did follow the advise of the other reviewers and got a can of satin finish polyurithain instead of what came in the box. I couldnt be happier and have recommended it to everyone I know. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great buy I purchased this to liven up two "antique" pieces of furniture that my parents "off loaded" on me when they move to a new house. They are very old, and really quite beat up looking (one piece appears to have received several repairs). I chose to sand them, going the extra effort, and used an HVLP set up to paint. I used the glazing, even though they say it won't work if you spray, but there are enough dents, nicks, groves edges and cracks for the glazing to go and add character. This project went so well, it has inspired me to start hitting up garage sales and buying old furniture to fix up a resell. For this project I used the espresso color, which basically looked like Hershey chocolate until the glazing was applied. I applied the glazing twice, which worked out nicely for the dark results I wanted May 16, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Worth it We decided to transform an old dresser using this product. The process does take a while and is not something you want to rush but if you have the time and are willing to do it than i highly recommend this kit. It was nice not having to sand down or prime the furniture first. I would say it is probably not JUST a one weekend project. We started on our dresser on Saturday afternoon and got thru the first 2 steps. We applied the Glaze yesterday afternoon and will go back this coming weekend to put the protective finish on. The color matching seems to be pretty spot on (the lid of the box has the options) and then the paint department dyes it your requested color. The Toasted Almond looks just like it did on the box. I cant wait to 'transform' more furniture! February 10, 2014
